Dokpa Guest House and Home Stay - Guest house in Leh, Shey - Leh Ladakh, India

I spent almost five days in Dokpa Guest House in Shey during my visit to Ladakh this year and it was a great experience. Ityka and Harsh are warm and gracious hosts who will go out of the way to make the guests' stay memorable and pleasant. From the location to the food, everything was top notch. The room was spacious, well lit and comfortable with its own private balcony with awesome views. The food was absolutely delicious and I missed taking all the meals at the guest house itself. There is a lovely garden too where one can unwind and a common seating area with books, apart from a yoga space where one can take yoga classes or just spend time meditating. The place is close to Thiksey monastery and Shey palace with some great hiking spots nearby. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I would love to come there again and again.

Had a wonderful stay here. Ityka and Harsh take care of each and everything. Wonderful hosts, I must say. Babloo Bhaiya cooks tasty food and always greets you with a smile. The location is perfect as it's so close to Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace. The front lawn is beautiful. Rooms are clean and spacious. Just two suggestions : Please give more choices to people for the meal. Once we had Bharwa Bhindi and Chapati which we didn't like and we weren't given any other option. At other times, we got amazing food like Malai Kofta for dinner, poori bhaji for breakfast. Also, the food is not included in the overall booking price ( which is generally not the case for home stays). Secondly, the quality of mattress can be improved. Wasn't that comfortable.

Ityka and Harsh are one of the most hospitable and warm hosts i have ever come across. The homestay is nestled in a cosy and serene spot in Shey village, very close to the famous Shey Palace. The home cooked food, great amenities and good company made for a very comfortable and memorable stay.

I stayed here for couple of days and boy what a wonderful experience is had. I would like to highlight some of the amazing things about this place: 1. Very Spacious Property. The front yard is huge and beautiful 2. Rooms are super clean and spacious 3. Very Very close to Thikseh Monastery 4. Food is just amazing & so homely. You don't get delicious North Indian easily in Ladakh but this is your place 5. Hosts are very warm. You are going to love them :) All in All, this is a perfect place to chill out and relax in Ladakh. Must Visit And Yes, It is budget friendly :)

Dokpa Guest house Highlights (TLDR version) 1. Heaven for digital nomads - can WFH from here 2. Perfectly located away from the city noise and lights but still close enough to all the nearby hotspots. Stay here because if you wanted to escape the city, why would you come and stay in Leh(yet another city)? 3. Clean rooms - Yes. Hot water - yes, Great food - oh yes, Clean bathrooms - always. Internet - yes on Airtel postpaid 4. Things to do nearby - 2 monasteries and a fish pond in a 3 km radius, atleast 5 beautiful villages and monasteries in a 10km radius and absolutely endless beautiful hikes and lazing spots which the Pangongers and Nubra circuit tourists will NEVER find. 5. Yoga and health - Ityka provides Yoga classes every morning at Dokpa and her brother Harsh is a fitness fanatic so youre never far away from a yoga studio or a workout partner at the nearby gym 6. Kitchen - Deepu bhaiya and Bablu kill it in the kitchen with a smile on their faces. Softest pooris, light and delicious parathas and tastiest dals and sabzis. Simple, tasty and delicious north indian food every day. 7. People - Dokpa Guest House seems to have a knack of attracting the best and warmest people. Probably has to do with the good vibes and energy that the hosts put into running this place. If anyone is reading this, this is your sign to NOT stay in Leh city! Ladakh is probably not meant to be hurriedly absorbed in 1 week. Relax, come to Dokpa guest house in shey, eat some delicious food, make some new friends and go on 1 of gazillion beautiful hikes nearby. Spot the milky way at night, swap stories with people and go to bed exhausted yet excited for tomorrow :) My stay : I stayed at Dokpa for about 2 months and it was one of the most wholesome experiences I have had. Dokpa is located in Shey, about 15kms from Leh and is THE place to stay at if you want to stay away from the crowds of the town and yet not be too far from it The Guest House features a beautiful flower garden that just looks unreal. Seating in the garden, a common space filled with board games, books and a guitar + a huge space for Yoga classee The rooms are tidy and comfortable. Facilities are in tip top condition. You can get hot water when you need it, internet is good in the area as long as you have an airtel postpaid SIM. I work from home and could do all of my work on mobile internet. The hosts at Dokpa, Ityka and Harsh, are true gems and will stop at nothing to make your stay super comfortable. Their staff of two will make sure you are well fed, warm and comfy at all times. Dokpa guest house also has THE best north indian kitchen in Ladakh. You are never bored, always welcomed and can catch the sickest ladakh sceneries and weather-scapes just sitting in the balcony!

Memorable stay bcoz we felt at home away from home. Brother and sister are managing efficiently with focus on customer utmost satisfaction . Support staff very courteous.Chef also cooks delicious food. Owner of the property lives in the same premise in a separate portion and is very concerned about cleanliness and hygiene all around. He is very humble and courteous too and friendly. Location is scenic and easily approachable, Sun is all around whole day. Reading material, yoga room are added attractions .

Neat and Beautiful. The hosts are kind and helpful. The food is homely and hygienic, something very hard to find in Leh. You will definitely notice the effort host has put to make your stay a pleasant one. I stayed at both Driftwood (a nearby 4star hotel) and Dokpa.. I'll always come back to Dokpa.. btw there are many nearby attractions so you have loads to do. And the host also offers yoga classes

If you are looking for a quiet and cozy place just outside the purlieu of Leh, search no more. Close to Shey Palace & Thiksey Monastery, Dokpa Guesthouse is perfectly situated for people who are fond of nature ( beautiful view of the mountains on the backside and Indus River at walking distance on the front). The rooms are spacious with great view. There is a 24 hour hot water supply. Very delicious food and courteous staff. Ample space for parking. Also ideal for people who are looking for long stay (WFH). The host,Ityka, goes above & beyond to accommodate the guests and who also happens to be a yoga instructor.
