Beautiful and big temple of Raja Daksh. He is the father of Sati mata( Parvati mata). Place is beautiful and temple is very huge.
Named after King Daksh and has a great history from the mythology. The present temple was built by Queen Dhankaur in 1810 and rebuilt in 1962. It is a place of pilgrimage for Shaivaite devotees on Maha Shivaratri. There was ample parking outside the temoke the moving queue that made the darshan pleasant during the visit. You might want to be cognizant of certain times of the month (Including masik Shivratri, Pradosh) to plan accordingly. Don't miss the Shitla Mata Mandir behind the main temple which is the birth place of Sati Mata.

The ancient temple of Daksha Mahadev also known as Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple, is situated in the south Kankhal town in Haridwar. This temple of Lord Shiva is named after King Daksha Prajapati, father of Sati. A ghat is available there where one can dip themselves before puja... The present temple was built by Queen Dhankaur in 1810 and rebuilt in 1962. As mentioned in the Mahabharata and other texts of Hinduism, King Daksha Prajapati, the father of Sati, Shiva's first wife, performed yajna at the place where the temple is situated. Although Sati felt insulted when her father did not invite Shiva to the ritual, she attended the yajna. She found that Shiva was being spurned by her father and she burnt herself in the Yajna Kunda itself. Shiva got angry and sent his Ganas, the terrible Virabhadra and Bhadrakali to the ritual.[3] On the direction of Shiva, Virabhadra appeared with Shiva's ganas in the midst of Daksha's assembly like a storm wind and waged a fierce war with the gods and mortals present culminating in the beheading of Daksha, who was later given the head of a goat at the behest of Brahma and other gods. If you are traveling to Haridwar, you can never miss visiting the Daksha Temple as it occupies a significant place in the Hindu mythology.
