People know about Normandy. The battle of Kohima was far more savage, far more important. If the Japanese crossed the northeast, mainland India was easy. Nearly 2500 died defending the frontier - cooks, nurses, electricians, sweepers everyone perished.

Very neat and clean place. Situated in town and surrounded by markets. Easy to locate. One can learn so many details of history and of the moments of World War II. Feel very nostalgic and pray homage to the martyrs. A very heart melting scene. No entry fees is required. Must visit if you're in Kohima.

This world war II memorial honours the soldiers who fought on behalf of allied forces to defend against the Japanese army.It is an humbling and enlightening experience to visit the memorial. This is located right in the middle of the town.
The memorial itself is very neatly maintained. Every soldier's information including their batallion, age at the time of demise and their faith is inscribed on their plaque.
Place worth visiting... A testament of the bravery of the soldier of various countries who laid down their lives during worldwar II... Cemetery of the soldier along with their details . Peaceful and Well maintained place with a beautiful view of Kohima city!

The flowers planted are no less. Well planted and arranged very detailed.

A well maintained and serene memorial in the heart of Kohima. Situated near to the market place in an elevated position, one can see the beautiful and dense Kohima from the top of the cemetery.
Green and quiet, this place is ideal for an early morning walk, meditation and for a stroll with family. The air up here is clean and and a good break from the noise and dust on the streets.
The memorial has different timings for summer and winter season and is open to public only during the visiting hours.
The memorial is guarded by the military round the clock.
