Cochin Port is one of the major ports between the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, situated in the state of Kerala in India. It is also one of the largest ports in the country and is governed by the Cochin Port Trust. It was first opened for commercial use in 1928.
Cochin is presently the fastest growing logistic centre emerging into a major International transshipment terminal. An all-weather natural port which is located strategically close to the busiest international sea routes, Cochin is promoting major liquid terminal, bulk terminal and maritime industries in its port-based special economic zones (SEZs). Cochin Port Trust has approximately 863.755 hectares of land at numerous locations in Kochi which can be used for providing various services at the port.
Cochin Port also considers cruise as a major business prospect and gets major cruise lines such as Cunard Lines, Royal Caribbean Lines, Aida Cruises, Costa Cruises, etc., every year.Cochin Port or Kochi Port is a major port on the Arabian Sea - Laccadive Sea - Indian Ocean sea-route in the city of Kochi and is one of the largest ports in India. It is also the first transshipment port in India. The port lies on two islands in the Lake of Kochi: Willingdon Island and Vallarpadam, towards the Fort Kochi river mouth opening onto the Laccadive Sea. The International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT), part of the Cochin Port, is the largest container transshipment facility in India.
This port trust looks like something out of a fairytale. The building is quite old with chinese architecture. It is maintained quite well.
