CHUCHURA STATION - Railway services in Chinsurah - Hooghly, India

Station is relatively clean considering the footfall. Services were all running. Toilets need to better. Also the stairs down the toto stand needs to repaired. Trains were surprisingly on time. Announcements were routine and well heard. Plenty of seating arrangements and platforms are wide to handle large crowd.

Normally you will get a seat while boarding from this station unless it is office time. Most of the trains stop here. It is a great place to start journey from.

Hugli-Chuchura or Hooghly-Chinsurah is a city of Hooghly district and the district headquarters of Hooghly division in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is one of the densely populated cities of West Bengal. It lies on the bank of Hooghly River, 35 km north of Kolkata. It is located in the district of Hooghly and is home to the district headquarters. Chuchura houses the Commissioner of the Burdwan Range. The District Court building of Chinsurah is the longest building in West Bengal. It is a part of Greater Kolkata covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority.

Chuchura is a busy railway station in the Howrah Bardhaman railway connection. It witnessed a heavy footfall especially on the famous Jagadhatri Puja. This station is under eastern railway jurisdiction. Toilets need to be cleaned more.

Wherever I visit speak about our station. Except some of the mails every train stops here. Station is clean and tidy most of the times. Separate toilet, Food and drinking, porter (only for vendor goods) facility is available on the platform. Ticket clerk and people (daily passengers) are helpful as well as well-behaved. Transportation is also good if you have to go anywhere in Hooghly from Station (Bus, Auto, Toto, Magic, Treker is available). But yes, after 9:30 it is hard to find easy transport. And station road becomes a Dighi after rain (so you have to ask somebody from where you should reach to the transport area in any rainy day).
