Wonderful place reacheble by ferry. The ferry ride is also the cheapest on this planet. The island has a wonderful green cover & traditional houses. I think outsiders cant purchase property here to preserve the heritage value.
A quiet little island. Beautiful and serene with the old world rustic charm still existing in this place. A great place to explore for both nature lovers as well as those interested in history. The boat tour on back waters to see mangrove vegetation, crabs and birds ( with bird man Uday of Charao) is a must. A little treck on a small hillock with cashew trees on bothe sides of the path will have you reach the lost seminary of Saint Gerome. A visit to the old church and Devaki Krishna(there are only 2 temples in India that are devoted to Krishna- son and Devaki- mother, mostly you have Radha Krishna temples) temple add to the overall experience. I was very surprised to know about how Charao got it's name from Churamani. If you go there, suggest that you also make this discovery of Goa's ancient prevalent Hindu culture before the invasion of Portuguese
It is largest island out of 17 islands in Goa.There is a bird senturery also. There are Oldest Maa Bhagwati Prasad.
Apart from crowded city of panjim this small island gives you peace it is away from noisy city of panjim. You can come here and chill and have great time with friends and family
A spacious and natural environment with Salim Ali bird sanctuary. The season however is from November to February for watching the migratory birds, otherwise it's just a nature's walk. The island is open and with limited tourist spots. Compared to Divar island, this will be slightly less attractive. Good for drives and boating. Best tourist spots as per my preference:- 1. Christ the king(vantage point) 2. Chapel of Saint Jerome 3. Salim Ali 4. Temples and churches
Winters are best over here, for birding and boat rides. The place is famous for it's mangroves. Cool and calm place to relax. Keep this place clean ...
Love this place, it's greenery, it's weather, it's mangoes, it's local field rice, urrak, our panch member Ms Welda is doing an awesome job with regards to cleanliness etc.
Beautiful Island . It's beauty lies in it's simple nature and no busy noisy lifestyle. Evenings are good for refreshing walks on the pattos .
I had an excellent experience doing my 200 hour yoga teacher's training. The atmosphere and food are excellent and the teachers are inspiring, committed and genuinely lovely people. Soaking in the lush greenery was rejuvenating not only to the body a
Very Devine and beautiful temple. It's always well maintained . The richness of Goddess Is reflected in the overall ambience. Parking available. There is no toilet facility.
You won't get a chance to mold your thought into negation, once to step into the vibes of Ashram. A stunning view would help you to blossom into serenity.
Stumbled upon this beautiful in-house restaurant run by Fatima aunty by the name Lafayette, in Chorao Island. A huge 30 year old tree and a passion fruit plant overlooking a beautiful rustic old Goan house, Fatima aunty welcomed us into her home and
