Chandernagore College - Government college in Chandannagar - Hooghly, India

Chandernagore college is one of the most beautiful and biggest college of Burdwan university. This college is more than 150 years old. There are more than 40 departments in the college. It was established in 1862 by French, the college had a beautiful Heritage building of French architecture. The surrounding environment of the college is very clean , beautiful and natural. You can see the hoogly river from your class room. Hostel is also available for girls only.

Chandannagar Govt. College, formerly known as Duplex college is one of the oldest colleges in Hooghly. It is affiliated to the University of Burdwan. Initially it was St. Mary's Institution founded in 1862 by the French Catholic Missionary, Rev. Magloire Barthet. The institution was renamed as Dupleix College in 1901, in memory of Governor General Joseph Dupleix. In 1947 the college was again renamed as Chandernagore College. This is one of the most attractive heritage places of Chandannagar.

I love chandannagar. It is very beautiful place. I have studied in chandernagore college (duplex). Department of french. Chandernagore college is situated at strand road beside west side of the ganga river. It is one of the most reputed government college under burdwan University.

Chandernagore college locating at Strand Road of Chandernagore has many depts of Arts and Science . This colg has been established at 1862 by French East India Company . Huge green enthralling campus,lavish infrastructure ,experienced professors make this intitute an epitome of educational research and studies . Even Netaji Subhas Open Univ has its wing operational from this campus. Meritorious students are welcomed to continue their studies over here.

A beautiful French architecture. Chandernagore College, affiliated to the University of Burdwan, is the oldest college in Hooghly. It was set up in 1862 by the French Catholic Missionary, Rev. Magloire Barthet. At that time, it was named as School De St. Mary. In 1901, the name of the college was changed to Dupleix College. Finally, in 1948, the college was renamed as Chandernagore College. The college played very important role in the revolutionary movement against the Britishers. Indian freedom fighter Kanailal Dutta, who attained martyrdom in 1908, was a student of this college. Revolutionary Charu Chandra Roy was Directeur Adjoint of this college from 1903-1904. The West Bengal Heritage Commission declared this college a heritage building in 2010.

Chandernagore College established in 1862 and re-established in 1931, is a Constituent College of the University of Burdwan. Chandernagore College is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f)1956 and Section 12(B) 1972. The distinguished faculty members of this institution hails from the prestigious West Bengal Educational Service Cadre. The College was evaluated by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) in 2007 and was awarded 'B++' rank. In 2016 the College was re-accredited by NAAC with the same grade but with an improved overall score
