CGR'51 - Restaurant in Chandannagar - Hooghly, India

Very bad experience... seems they only charge for the ambiance or the view... we ordered lasagna! It was a disaster, really the taste was good ... but the portion they gave for 300 rupees... it was terrible... they only gave us one piece of lasagna.... Attaching picture...also The water which is available outside at 15 rupees, is being taken for 30 rupees This is not recommended at all!

First of all, please don't judge a book by its cover. Although the aesthetics of this place is decent however, it won't be able to compensate with the quality of the food they serve. Trust me, aesthetics might fill our Instagram feed but won't be able to fill our tummies. Now pertaining to the food, the quantity as well as the quality isn't upto the mark as per the price point. I took an Irish coffee which was priced at Rs170/-. Trust me, I can make better coffee with a Rs5/- Nescafe sachet. Besides the hot chocolate tastes like hot bournvita. Nevertheless, think again before coming here. If they can work upon these aspects, well and good. And if they can't, I'm sorry to say but the business won't be able to last long.

My friends and I visited this place thinking it would be good but we were very dissatisfied and dissapointed.The food quality was poor and the portion sizes was not sufficient . We ordered lasagna, chicken a la kiev, pasta, and the lasagna could only feed 1 person. It seemed as if they are charging for the view and ambience only. It is a kind request to take care of the food quality and quantity, and not make it seem like some heated up frozen food.

Statutory Warning - Please do not visit this place during Summers, as they do not have the facility of Air Conditioner. They will provide coolers but it's of no use. The place is too crowded and the sitting arrangement is congested. No complaints regarding that cos it's the first roof top resturant in Chandannagar and people do want to come. Now coming to the food.. it's too spicy. We were having a bite and sipping water. They have a big menu card but most of the items were not available. Had ordered: - 1 Chicken Panisse - This was good 2 Chicken Mozzarella Balls - tastes horrible 3 Non Veg Chicken Platter - Okayish The staffs were really good, young boys working there were trying their best to serve the guests. Lightings were not proper so couldn't get good pictures of us nor of the food.

Location and ambiance is really good. First of its kind in Chandannagar. However, the management is poor. Not all dishes were available. Pasta was very good, baked fish was little salty, drinks were moderately cold and prices were on the higher side. When we asked for ice, they could not provide any. Waiters are little confused and service must be improved.

If even a few months back, someone would tell me that there would be a rooftop cafe in Chandannagar, I would not believe them. That too, right by strand road, that happens to be the most happening place in this little town. My school is located right by the river side, I have been around this place for fourteen years, and therefore I know this place like the back of my hand. But to my utter surprise, I came across Cgr'51, a freshly opened rooftop cafe, right beside my school. Although I had heard mixed reviews, I still wanted to check this place out along with my sister. As per the location, it's a wonderful choice. It's right beside strand road, opposite to Patal Bari, and therefore provides a wonderful ambience. However, here are a few things I'd like to honestly express. We went there on a very hot and humid evening, and there was hardly any breeze, and therefore it wasn't the most comfortable experience. The indoor seating area does not have any air-conditioning or even fans, so it's going to be pretty uncomfortable if you turn up on a summer evening, god forbid if you're here in the afternoon. As long as the winters were here, I guess it was pretty feasible, I now is the time for the management to make some arrangements for air conditioning in the indoor seating area. Coming to the food, we tried: * Blue Lagoon Mojito * Hot Chocolate * Chicken A La Kiev * Peri Peri Chicken Pizza The Blue Lagoon Mojito was very refreshing indeed, and much needed in this hot and humid weather. However, the drink was not very cold, it would have been better if it was served chilled. The quantity also seemed very less than the price being paid. 100-120/- for the drink would have been a better pricing. The hot chocolate was ordered by my sister, and I really didn't like how it tasted. It was very watery, and seemed very Bournvita, sorry to say. Really disappointing. The Chicken Pizza was more disappointing than the hot chocolate. They are charging 380/- for it, so I would expect that it would be a bigger portion? But it was really small! I have had better pizzas in the town itself and they are much bigger, and taste a lot better. There's no reason to pay so much for the small pizza they are serving. So please don't try it, although it tastes decent. You will be very disappointed. Now, coming to the best thing in the lot-- the Chicken Ala Kiev. I really loved this one. I have tried this at Olypub too, and I'd say that the one at Cgr'51 was very close to it as per the taste and portion. They serve a huge portion of one Ala Kiev, that you can share with your partner and still be full. It's served on a bed of mashed potatoes and butter with some veggies on the side. The butter spurted out beautifully as we cut open the chicken, and it was so satisfying! While you have to do a little tugging and pulling, and it goes for ala kiev everywhere, it's worth it. Softly cooked chicken coated with a crunchy layer of fried breadcrumbs, it makes the perfect meal, not only a snack. Enjoying it with the soft music and looking at the river on a nice evening, it's gonna be a perfect date. This is a must try here! This dish alone fetched three out of the four stars that I'm giving. There's a lot of room for improvement here. The food can be made better and so can be the portions. The seating arrangement can also be made a little less crowded, although we sat on the barstools and they were pretty nice. The lighting can also be a little better I guess, to make the place more instagrammable. More professional service is required if they wish to thrive in this town for a long time.

The atmosphere is too good, But the food price is too expensive for anyone. We just ordered Chicken cheese balls 5 PC 240/-. Test more or less good. But it's much more expensive to afford to anyone.

First time but very bad experience. I visited last night. Food quality is very bad. Compare to food quality price is too high. They provide one bottle of water but they mentioned in the bill two bottle of water. Before paying the bill please check the bill. Overall very bad experience.
