The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) is a non-governmental organization located in Mumbai, India, dedicated to the conservation of nature and wildlife. Founded in 1883, it is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the world, and its contributions to wildlife research and conservation have been widely recognized. The BNHS has a large collection of specimens, including birds, mammals, insects, reptiles, and plants, which are used for scientific research and education. The society also has an extensive library that houses a wealth of information on natural history, ecology, and conservation. Apart from research and education, the BNHS also works towards conservation of wildlife and their habitats. The society runs several conservation programs that focus on protecting endangered species, preserving forests, and raising awareness about environmental issues. The BNHS is also involved in ecotourism, organizing trips to natural areas around India, which provide a great opportunity for nature enthusiasts to learn about the country's wildlife and ecosystems. Overall, the Bombay Natural History Society is an excellent organization that plays a crucial role in the conservation of India's natural heritage. Its extensive research and educational programs, coupled with conservation initiatives, make it an important institution in the field of wildlife conservation.
