The self-service premium counter is a convenient place to buy liquor in Palakkad as there is no queue there. But there is a problem with this outlet: the non-premium counter, where there is a queue most of the time and where less pricey items are available, is just below the floor of the premuim self-service counter and one has to navigate the winding line of people to reach the upper floor self-service store. At the premium counter, there are a few restrictions on sales, it appears. One person can buy only five bottles of beer, for instance!
