Ballavpur Wildlife Sanctuary - Wildlife park in Bolpur - Birbhum, India

Bolpur is the ideal place for outing and it is hardly 3-4 hours drive from Kolkata. Shanti Niketan is the main place to visit while you are visiting Bolpur, and in Shanti Niketan there were many beautiful places, Ballavpur Wildlife Sanctuary is one of them. The place is full of large trees and green surroundings. The place is famous for its Deer park, almost more than 100 deer's lives there inside the Sanctuary. They are well maintained and while visit, they will come near you. The place is also ideal for family picnic, and you can enjoy the time over there. Children friendly place where they can see the wildlife very near and enjoy their time. Highly recommended to go if you are in Shanti Niketan, then you must visit Ballavpur Wildlife Sanctuary.

Very pathetic experience.At Rs 100/Hour, nothing to explore here beside a few deers & one peacock. Don't come here. Total waste of money & time.

Nice place, though almost always crowded. Contains only Spotted Deer and lots of migratory birds. One can take really nice photos here if they have a decent D-SLR camera.This is a lesser known place in Shantiniketan near university campus. A reasonably large area with plenty of trees and a few small water bodies are fenced. There are nearly hunderd deers inside this sanctuary. It's a very pleasant place to spend an hour or so if the weather is mild. The best time is two feeding hours, one in the morning and another at around 3 pm. All the deers come out in the open. Sometimes a few deers jump over the fence and roam around freely, which is immensely enjoyable, specially for the kids. The entry ticket counter closes sharp at 3-30 pm and the the main gate closes at 4 pm.

This place is good for only lovebirds and those who have never seen a tree, dear or peacock. For others, it is simple waste of money. We live in Jharkhand and there we get much better options at much lower price. Entire sanctuary is not open to public, only a small part is open for public.

Quite a good place and deers are healthy enough (not in malnutrition). The forest is really big, enjoy a birds eye view from the watch tower. It is a huge area and the paved way will end after time. Then, the way is through the forest. But the wat is beautiful. If you are lucky enough, you can see deers to cross the path from one side of the jungle to other. It will be a pleasant experience at the deer Park, so do not miss it.

Waste of money and time. Burdwan deer park is far better in quality and costing. 10.00 rs whole day enjoy. Lots of animals and birds.
