I read the reviews and I saw some really bad reviews which were not true at all! 1. It is in one of the most prime locations of shillong. 2. The area is safe and its a proper residential area. 3. Police bazaar is just a 5 mins walk from the back exit. Coming to the actual review - I really liked the place. Its calm, and has a very rustic feel. People looking for 5 modern architecture or hi tech interiors might not enjoy it. But as a person who likes old and rustic places. This was amazing. The place is hygienic, very clean and neat. Has 24 hour running water and good wifi. Has a TV too which is smart. Someone wrote that the place is old. Yes it is a heritage property but definitely not in a dilapidated condition. It is maintained very well. One suggestion for the owner - Kindly try keeping an electric kettle. Though the caretaker is available all the time. But having an electric kettle is of great help. I would have been able to make my own tea or black coffee without disturbing anyone.
Had a pleasant comfortable stay here The host sent a woman caretaker to carry the luggage who could not carry a single one, though she was really hospitable and spontaneous in doing any work. The parking mentioned on make my trip is deceiving though as they do not have proper parking facilities. You have to go down a narrow road to reach the place. The rooms were well equipped with whatever necessary. Location is good. 3-4 kms from police bazar and a few metres from Wards Lake. You'll get a feel of staying in a bungalow here. The price could have been a little less for the rooms.
I booked the place before visiting shillong on phone. After visiting, they didn't allow usus check in early as I mentioned before that whether they would be able to let us do the early check in. In the course of booking duration, they told that they would manage. When we went there they didn't let us to check in and also the owner was so rude that she told us "get out from the property and don't disturb my guest". She didn't refund our money too when we asked for it. I would not recommend anyone to stay in this place.
Place is not good! Quality is not 3 star hotel as mentioned in Google. Safety issue.. no food availability , Zomato Swiggy available with extra charges of 100 rs due to location. Care taker does not understand anything easily, person who ll call u for stay is educated and will talk smartly.. once u enter cottage it's rubbish!!
Cosy home-stay. Special credit for the amazing hospitality offered by the caretaker. It's located just beside the wards lake; shillong. Just a 2 min down slope to reach the property. Not a problem at all. We took 2 rooms for 5 persons. Whenever we called caretaker, she responded immediately and with responsibility. Instagram worthy place. Also as this is wooden house, all of the furnitures are not in well condition. But it's manageable. You get the whole vibe of staying in a wooden homestay. Live like a local in shillong. Heater and hot water available. Any problem ~ call caretaker. There is a super shortcut to police bazar (beside Ward's lake). You can walk in peace. If you are looking for a nice homestay avoiding the Chaos of police bazar. You are in right place.
Rooms are good. Owner too but that is no proper communication between the owner and the care taker... Heater wasn't working.. They called the person he came around 9.30, had to call the owner twice... Room is neat and clean.. Bright and beautiful.. The problems were resolved but it made our stay difficult. Also waited outside the cottage for half an hour in the evening it was closed from outside even after speaking to the owner 4 hrs before arriving...
Please don't go for it. It is far away from police Bazar. Rooms are not clean, no proper lighting, floor is shivering as it looks like the building will collapse. There is no safety in the premises and also it's outside the residential area. To reach the cottage you have to go to steep road in which no cars are allowed you have to walk on foot. It looks like a bhoot bangla( haunted house) Very negative feeling. Don't go for it
A bit cold, but good for a large family who travelling together. If you're alone or a couple best to avoide, anyone can overheard through rooms.
