Ashokan Edict - Featured Reviews (495)
This edict probably dates back to about 257 BCE, and was inscribed at the orders of the Magadhan Emperor Ashoka 'The Great'. The edict is inscribed in the Brahmi script (which may have been invented by Ashoka himself) and talks of his efforts in dedicating himself to the Buddhist faith. The rock on which the edict is carved sits high among a group of boulders in a tree-shaded green park. Most of the people who seem to come to the park are here only to relax, but there is a sign at the gate which describes the edict. A paved path leads up partway to the edict, and beyond that, there's a wooden walkway, with railings on either side, all the way up to a small open pavilion that holds the edict. The edict is covered with a protective plastic slab. This was very dusty, and as it is, the inscription had been eroded over time, so it's hard to see it. Despite that, if you're interested in history, this is worth a look.

2000 year old Ashokan edict has been maintained in glass enclosure on a hillock. It is quite close to ISKCON temple in East of Kailash
A serene and peaceful place to sit as well as a spacious park to go for a walk.
Not well maintained, the inscription on the Edict has faded away. Sad ! No parking available. The lawn or garden isn't that well kept. It's just a km or two from Nehru place. The greenery around keeps the air cool. It's strewn with weathered rocks with a cage in midst holding the famed Ashokan inscription.
