Place shows historical value but not managed and presented what it keeps
Place of ancient history and important. But the maintenance and tourism facility is very poor. It is 2000 year old pillar. There are words embedded in lipi, brhm lipi and other languages. The ambiance is good and the road to reach there is also good but government of Bihar and Bihar tourism should work for it.
Lauria Nandangarh, also Lauriya Navandgarh, is a city or town about 14 km from Narkatiaganj and 28 km from Bettiah in West Champaran district of Bihar state in northern India. It is situated near the banks of the Burhi Gandak River. The village draws its name from a pillar of Ashoka standing there and the stupa mound Nandangarh about 2 km south-west of the pillar. Lauriya Nandangarh is a historical site located in West Champaran district of Bihar. Remains of Mauryan period have been found here.
The place is named after Ashoka pillar (laur). It is made of sandstone and is about 10 m high....needs better maintenance and the writing should be translated and put up as a notice board by ASI. Made some time in 241 BC. Is on ancient Road to Nepal.
This place has it's own heritage but not well preserved . I have seen names of some people inscribed by rock damaging the actual writings on it. This place needs care.

It's very attractive place to visit and spend time here.. every year a fair is organized at this place in the month of December and January ... Must visit such historical place to feel connected with our history and civilization... it's one of the best known historical place to visit with friends and family.
Ashok Stambh is situated in Lauriya and it is around 25 km away from Bettiah. I visited this place hundreds of time. This pillar is still in good shape with famous tiger is on its top. If you love to visit historical place and keen to know about King Ashoka you must visit this place.
