Annapurna Temple - Featured Reviews (3005)
I visited Annapurna Temple in Barrackpore The temple of Goddess Annapurna was built on the banks of the Ganges on April 12, 1875 in imitation of the Dakshineswar temple. I came to know that in 1847, during Rani Rasmani's pilgrimage to Annapurna Kashi, Rani Rasmani received a dream to build a temple of Annapurna on the banks of the Ganges and Rani Rasmani's journey to Kashi was suspended. That dream was fulfilled by Rani Rasmani's youngest daughter Jagdambadevi. We visited today, the goddess here is made of ashtadhatu. Navaratna temple with nine pinnacles with pankha work, big nat temple, six eight-aisled Shiva temple, two Nahavatkhanas, Ganga ghat, Bhog house etc. were built. I heard that it cost about three lakh rupees in that era. This temple can be reached in seven minutes by rickshaw or walking from Talpukur bus stop between Barrackpore or Titagarh. Nice experience, you can visit too.
I will highly recommend everyone to visit this place. This place is a rare gem. The beautiful green and open surroundings, the lovely constant breeze flowing freely makes you feel very calm and relaxed. Time just passed by without notice while we basked in the reverent and divine atmosphere of the premises. Special Thanks to the popular Bengali TV Show "Rani Rashmoni" for bring this place to our attention and breathing a new life into this place that enabled a much needed restoration. However much is still needed to maintain and improve this place. Hence I will request everyone to visit and participate in keeping our heritage alive. Parking Rs.30 Bhog Prashad in premises (1:30pm) Rs.120 per person. Bhog Prashad for parcel home Rs 170. For us 1 was sufficient as extremely generous amount was provided. Rooms available for Daytime use only. Nighttime stay not allowed. Limited coupons available for Prashad, hence if you are visiting during any popular festivals or weekends then its advisable to call office on the previous day and place a booking. Same for rooms. A Flower shop is available inside premises.
Annapurna Temple, situated beside the Ganga river between Titagarh and Barrackpore. Very close to Gandhi Ghat. It looks like Dakshineswar Temple. Actually it's a copy of Dakshineswar Temple. Lots of people come here to give their puja to Kali Ma and to ask for blessings.. Very silent and nostalgic place.. If u visit there u will feel relaxed and refreshed... Lots of Bengali Movies and serial shootings have been done here..
The place is serene and gorgeous, the details in the architecture is astounding. Also the ambience was very soothing being Rashmoni Ghat just situated behind the temple. Only turn down was that DSLRs were not allowed so most of the photos are clicked on my Poco X4.
Built by Jagadamba Devi, the youngest daughter of Rani Rashmoni (who built Dakshineshwar temple), this temple is dedicated to Maa Annapurna and the main temple and Nat Mondir exact replica of the Dakshineshwar temple. One can also take a dip at the Ganges or simply experience the view of the Ganges which is just about 100 meters if exited by the back gate of the temple. When I visited, the temple showed that it needs maintenance, grass trimming and cleaning the Nat Mondir which is full of bird excreta. Situated in Titagarh, this temple is easily accessible by road and has decent parking space available.
This temple is exact scaled down replica of Dakshineswar Kali temple. This was built by Daughter of Rani Rashmoni Jagadamba Devi.
This temple was built by Jagadamba Devi, youngest daughter of Rani Rashmoni. The temple is similar to the Bhavatarini temple at Dakshineswar. Lord Shiva and Maa Annapurna are worshipped here. Temple is very nice and should be maintained properly, specially during rainy season. Different small Shiva temples present inside the premise. 4-wheeler parking charge Rs30 (no time basis).
Nice place for spending time in respect of spiritual aspects / Founded by the daughter of Rani Rashmoni 1875 / Free for all / Roads are narrow so drive slowly /
