Super place for bird both local and migratory. Though the place is maintained, some rain caused flooding. There is a watch tower with great views. It may be bit lonely at times so better go with few others. Forest guard will help if required
It is the best place for picnic....spot, it's a bird sanctuary area located in Vijayanagara Dist at Ankasamudra.
Best time to go there at morning or evening time. Tungabhadra backwater beside this place.
Fantastic place. I really hope some effort is put into developing this place. The entire place was flooded and inaccessible. Had to hike along a small trail that runs along the marsh. Got to see a huge number of migratory birds.
Astoundingly beautiful place, but there is absolutely nil maintainnce. There is no walkway to go around. Though this place is very near to famous Hampi, lacks basic infrastructure. The Tourism Department must act immediately to make it a tourism destination.
To be frank many of the near by towns and village people only don't know about this place. It'll be calm and peace you don't hear anything other than birds chirping, not even vehicles noise because it's away from the town. Government has to take initiative and develop this place as a tourist spot like boating, place for parking etc. one guy will be there to look after this place, if you find him he'll give you binoculars which will help you to watch the birds which are in the middle of the lake. You can see the nests of the birds closely if you observe the trees which are near the lake. *try to visit this place especially during rainy season and winter season*
Untouched wilderness. Beautiful place and lots of birds. It is not yet tourist friendly but worth a visit if you like untamed nature

The road connecting to it from highway is also good.
There are no food sources around the place. Carey food along with you. Please do not carry any plastics and dump the place.
It's is a nesting place to several wetland birds.
Knob billed ducks, spot billed ducks, lesser whistling ducks, great egrets, herons, black winged stilts, pintails, garganey and many more are commonly observed here. There is a small coracle for ride but we couldn't find anyone who could take us into the lake. So we had to take pictures from shore and watch tower.
Weekends invites many picnic families. Louder they are and lesser are the chances of finding birds nearby...!!
Located at around 35kms from hospet and you will immediately fall in love with the drive. We slightly took an offbeat road, instead of directly going on the Shimoga-harihar highway, we went via devalapura and then connected to state highway 25,(shimogha-harihar).
Coming back to the location itself, it's an absolute delight to any birder.. From resident Species to endemic species to winter migratory Species, all can be witnessed at the same palce based on the season of visit.
