I had a pleasant stay at Alpana Hotel in Uttarakhand, booked through Agoda. The value for the price (2.6k for 2 adults AC room) was great. The facilities and service met my expectations. Overall, it was a good choice.
Room was good clean.
Being a regular visitor of this hotel I would like to mention that things are deteriorating which needs regular maintenance. Rooms are having stinking smell of moisture and it's mentioned several times. Food is good but limited options. Kettles n crockery need to be replaced. Service staff also needed to be updated. No doubt the location is one of the major attraction.
Rooms were nice . Located near hari ki pauri, 10 minutes walking only. Amidst the main market, you can explore varieties of shops near the hotel. The reception staff were not very helpful, but the service guys were good. Geyser was not operating well. Room view was not good. All covered by nearby buildings. Food is not preferable here as it was expensive. You can walk to the main market and enjoy the good north India food. Hotel is overall fine.
We had a wonderful stay for our Haridwar vacation. Hotel found immense good, safe and well maintained. We had the same stay 2 years ago too which was also remarkable and enjoyable. Thank you
Alpana hotel is one of the best hotels in Haridwar, is it worth your money, however? Let us cover that topic in this rating!!
WAITING ROOM: The waiting room was gorgeous and maintained. Their couches were soft and comfortable, moving forward out of the waiting room there was a lovely little exit route to the elevators. Their were two elevators which were high-tech and smoothly elevated you to the 3 floors. In another hall near the elevators there was a washroom. The common washroom was extremely unmaintained and we had to ask the worker to clean it. the hotel was quite busy, adding a tone of sound in the waiting room.
ROOMS: You can choose between standard rooms, deluxe rooms and executive rooms. Deluxe and executive rooms have a large amount of space with separate sitting area, coffee maker, TV,etc. Standard rooms( the one I went in) had only a TV, queen bed and two small couches with a small table. Even though, the standard room was extremely comfy and I had a lovely sleep. The couches were ripped slightly however. there was enough room in the closet for a few days. Washroom was unmaintained, only 2 towels were given, each a little dirty. The walls had pencil drawings on them, the bed sheets were a little dirty as well.
DINNER: The diner was maintained but seats were very hard and uncomfortable. Dinner was disgusting. Anything was either too spicy, too sweet, too dry or too salty. Only their tadka daal was good. Amount of options in the menu were minimized.
BREAKFAST: Breakfast had a very good amount of options. Everything was either decent or delicious. much better effort than dinner. We ate breakfast at the same diner as we did for dinner. I definitely recommend the butter toast, very buttery, not too crunchy as well.
LOCATION: the location is rather odd but it's fine with me because I have lived in India for half my life. It may not be suitable for anyone coming outside of India because the streets outside are hectic, loud and crowded 24/7 because there are hundreds of small street shops, creating little crowds that make it difficult to walk comfortably. I like the fact that you can go out shopping without having to take a rickshaw or uber to get to and back. However the location makes Alpana feel more like a thrifty hotel rather than the luxurious hotel it is. The location however did not allow room for parking, meaning you would have to park at a ground, closest one being about 15-20 mins away from the hotel. The location was probably one of the worst things about Alpana.
CONCLUSION: A few things were average, like breakfast and washrooms. A few things were below average, like dinner, the common washroom, the TV and the room. A few things are a little above average, like the room furniture, the waiting room and the elevators. I would rate Alpana 4 because it is a good hotel, with a decent amount of facilities, the location is okay, not too good and not too bad. It has an also okay room service and maintains everything. The rate for the rooms had dramatically increased in just two hours. I think we should have to pay less for the rooms, they are not even that luxurious that you need to pay such a grand amount.
Rooms are not clean not even close to whats shown in pics. I stayed for just one night only. Previously used bedding was given to us. I woke up with a small cockroach crawling on my arm. There is this pungent seapage smell in the rooms. The only plus point is its location as its walking distance from har ki pauri but cars do not go to hotel. One has to park the car around 700 mtrs far from hotel and go walking to hotel because it's in a narrow lane and hardly any rickshaw agrees to go there.
Rooms and bathrooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. Hotel staff is cordial and helpful. Location of the hotel within market area, hence reachability using car is not possible. One has to hire e-rickshaw to reach hotel. But all major tourist places like Har ki Pauri, Manasha Mata temple even Haridwar railway station is within walking distance. Staying in Hotel Alpana is a good experience.
I have booked Executive room with work Desk for which I have paided near to 6000 including taxes for 1 night for 3 persons ... At time of checkin they provide me a basic standard category room which hardly cost u maximum 3000 including taxes . Means 3000 rs scam by the property.... And when asked about this at the reception one lady rudely replied that all rooms rate and category are the same... so guys be aware of this type of scam...
