A huge the then mosque at Pandua, Malda, the former historic Royal capital. This former mosque is said to be one of the largest structure of its kind and built by Sikandar Shah who is also tombed here. This is a very large mosque with huge area and the central part is a double story construction (not sure it was constructed during the period of Shah or made later on). The most was commissioned sometime in 1370s. The design is reportedly a mixed architecture. This is a ASI listed monument. A must visit during stay at Malda.

A historical place to visit. Silent, serene, quiet place where time stopped for a while. Its vastness pleased us so much. Not a reserved place by the government and it is quite sad news. No ticket or fees to enter the premises. Local boys and people were irritating us a little bit. If you love historical places then the place is good for you. No nearby restaurants or food places. You have to come to Malda Town. Thank you.

Located beside road, no difficulty to find out. The place is big, spacious. Famous for its history itself. In winter this place becomes centre of attraction. It gets more beautiful with various of seasonal flowers and other trees. Very photogenic place. People often visit there. Closes at 4.30 pm

The mosque was designed to display the kingdom's imperial ambitions after its two victories against the Delhi Sultanate in the 14th century.[6] Cut off from both north India and the Middle East in the late 8th/14th and early 9th/15th centuries, Muslim Bengali monarchs enthusiastically looked far to the west for cultural inspiration. Thus, for example, the inscription on the Adina Mosque describes Sultan Sekandar as "the exalted Sultan, the wisest, the most just, the most liberal and most perfect of the Sultans of Arabia and Persia ('Arab o 'Ajam)" (S. Ahmed, p. 38).[5] A few parts of the mosque's exterior wall have carvings like elephants and dancing figures. Inscriptions on the mosque proclaimed Sikandar Shah as "the exalted Sultan" and the "Caliph of the faithful".[7] The Sultan was buried in a tomb chamber attached to the wall facing the direction of Mecca.
