This jetty is very clean and has a beautiful view of the sea and the distant islands, also there's a park and shops for refreshments. You can go to Ross island, North bay Island etc from here.
Best place in Port Blair to spend your evening. Boats for Ross Island, Viper Island & North Bay leave from this jetty. You can also ride jetski.
Good place for water sports and a gateway to NSCB (Ross) island. But all the attractions are very expensive and doesn't justify the asking price. Even a simple boat ride of a few minutes to NSCB (Ross) island costs 370 rupees and the cheapest jet ski ride costs 600 rupees. The place even attracts a large crowd during weekends so plan in advance and avoid weekends.
Ferries for Ross & North Bay Islands ply from this Jetty. Jetty service is mainly run by private agencies with 10 seater boats. Booking for water sports at North Bay is available here and also at North Bay Island.
You can take boat from here to ross island... Wear life jacket and enjoy your ride
To visit North Bay or Ross you need to board from this jetty. Now the old aberdeen jetty is closed instead a new rajiv gandhi water sport complex and jetty to be used. As you enter from Rajiv Gandhi entrance soon touts of nirth bay water activities will surround you. They will brief abt all the water activities n their rates. They will ask you to book there itself. You may do so. Or you can book from northbay counter too.
But without visiting havelock n neil your andaman tour will be incomplete. If you are traveling without any travel agent first vusit havelock n neil then back to port blair. If in any case you have missed underwater activities there. You can try at north bay.
Water clarity is much better in havelock n neil. Marine life is also abundant there. Even in jollybuoy island.
Rate is almost same every where. In havelock scuba dive companies will offer free pickup n drop from hotel. You can easily get fresh in hotel. If you choose north bay you will get chance to cgange in rooms in crowded atmosphere. Your hotel is in port blair. Generally if you visit north bay first then ross you may feel uneasy. If you visit ross first then north bay. Still you need to wait for returning vessels to port blair, then by car or auto you will reach ur hotel.
If you visit havelock n neil first and indulge in water activities you may skip this island and save time n money.
