I had no idea this place existed in Elgin! I usually drive pretty far for quality aquarium plants so I’m pretty excited that this is close to home. The staff was super friendly, store is clean, plants are affordable and overall this place is super aesthetic. I purchased a few plants for my fancy goldfish aquarium, I’ll definitely be back for more!!

My first time in these aquatic paradise, and will not be the last!! I just put a foot in there and I just fell deeply in love with the store! 😍 Clear and naturally aquascaped aquariums EVERYWHERE, healthy and beautiful fish to choose from. The staff energy felt very nice and they are really kind even if you're a beginner, I feel an encouragement that I never felt in any other place, really knowledgeable people, I would like to work with them. Definitely worth taking the train to this beautiful place! I came back home happy with enchanting guppy fish.

This is a wonderful destination for the aquarium community. Freshwater and reef alike! Visit their Pod Bar. Check out their high-quality line of aquariums and unique stands, including tabletop stands. Very knowledgeable staff and owner. Clean tanks, healthy fish, corals, plants, and terrarium & palledarium stock. This is a must stop business. It's worth a drive if you're not local to the store.

This place is like Art gallery!!! Best aqua scape store in the state. Even employees are sure knowable and helpful. I love this place ❤️

Last weekend I was there and saw this massive green carpet anemone! I couldn’t resist and bought it along with 2 crabs, wonderful staff and I always enjoy talking to the owner. I’ll be stopping in soon to possibly buy the lights they use for a project tank ( aquarium essentials- add on light ) Also carpet is doing great , next to my purple carpet !

Such a beautiful store. Amazing display tanks! Wide variety of fish and related products. Top tier hard scape selection with areas to do mock setups to make sure you get all the right pieces. Highly recommended this store!

I'm really disappointed to be writing this review. I thought I'd found a reliable, local aquarium shop, and I've been relatively happy with most of the livestock I purchased from them, even though their live plants are full of snails. The other day I purchased 7 harlequin rasboras and quickly realized that 3 of them have large sores on their sides. When I tried to call the store I reached a corporate message line telling me to push 1 to reach the local store. Pushing 1 didn't work, and I ended up leaving a message at their corporate office asking for a call back, which I have yet to receive. I'm *extremely* disappointed that Zooxae is just another profiteering corporation. We desperately need some local shops that put livestock and customer service ahead of profits. Update: I have yet to receive a call from the corporate office, but one of the employees heard my concerns and did what he could to make it right. I'm still unlikely to go back, I'm frustrated that Americans exist only to give money to our corporate overlords and have no interest in propping yet another one up.

Awesome store, very cool setup. There are a lot of really nice tanks setup in the store to checkout. Good friendly employees, they have a good selection of freshwater fish, plants, foods and all sorts of accessories. There is a great selection of saltwater fish and things as well. I have been in twice about a week apart, there were many new plants and fish 🐟 on the 2nd visit. I like this place and will be a return customer. Just bought a Magenta Mystery Snail 🐌 today, he is happy and loving his new home.
