Zhangliang Spicy Hotpot (Rowland Heights) - Hot pot restaurant in Rowland Heights - 1380 Fullerton Rd #104, USA

Somewhat different style of hotpot, if it can be considered this. An apt description of what kind of restaurant this is, is more of a create your own bowl place, where you just grab the various toppings/veggies/noodles/beef in whatever magnitude and order you want. However, note, there's a procedure that you need to do, which is not written anywhere or how to do anything here. The staff either don't really speak English, or they have a low mumble voice, either or, it's very hard to communicate with them. They are also pretty rude and brash on the procedure of things and gets frustrated pretty quickly when you don't understand what they're saying. You are supposed to sign up on the Yelp pad to get seated, though based on observation, they have no one coming out to seat anyone, even with tables empty. If you sign on the pad and find your own table, since you'll need a place to sit after giving your order to them to cook, they'll get pretty pissy. Other than that, the food is priced at $13.99 per pound for soup bowls and $14.99 for bowl mix. What I find somewhat scummy is that the scale isn't rated so your end price also includes the bowls weight, which itself isn't light. The food itself was alright, they had some interesting toppings, which I didn't grab. Note that the Traditional Pork Bone broth has to come with some level of spice, which is suspicious, as if you had a traditional bone pork broth, you would want to let your clientele to taste the many hour simmered broth...unless they used powder to make their base and then use spicy oil to help cover that fact. I'm not sure if I'll come back here again, even though the food was alright, as I think you'll have a better experience elsewhere.

I was very excited to try this place and it definitely lived up to my expectations! First, the array of toppings for your soup is amazing. They have almost anything you could think of when it comes to hot pot. The price isn’t too bad at $13.99 per pound (as of 12/11/23). The pork bone broth is creamy and delicious with the perfect spice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice satisfying warm meal.

No frill hot pot restaurant. Great place to bring picky eaters as they could select whichever vegetables or meats they want. Wish their beef was less fatty, otherwise thoroughly enjoyed their dry pot.

Very authentic Sichuan/Chongqing style comfort food. They have so many selections of fresh ingredients and flavors as well. The environment is super clean and super modern as well. The staffs are friendly and helpful. However there could be a line of waiting during lunch and dinner time. All in all highly recommend!

I love spicy dip. They have so many different choices. But mind your spicy level, the medium is quite spicy for me.

Every member of our family, spanning ages from six to forty-six, like this restaurant a lot. It offers wonderful flavors, a nutritious DIY menu, and the added benefit of staying open until 1am on Saturdays.

Ingredients were kept inside freezer and look pretty fresh. Soup bases were tasty. Will visit again.

The food was just okay, but the people there are very nice and helpful to very attentive. They really do their best to make sure that the customers are happy and comfortable. The food choices for the hot pot are really good with lots of vegetable, seafood and red meat, and noodle choices. The only problem with this place was the broth. The soup base, we both had the bone broth, was really lacking in flavor and just meh. We were pretty disappointed in this because we really had pretty high hopes for this one. Perhaps we should have tried a different type of broth.
