Zap! Taco House - Taco restaurant in Mokena - 19711 Mokena St, USA

Went over the weekend and as we were walking up you can smell the fresh tortilla chips! Food and staff were amazing! As a vegetarian I was happy to see a meatless taco option as well as sides and quesadillas. Definitely didn’t leave hungry!!

Zap Tacos will make you forget about any other so called taco you have ever had! They absolutely nailed it! Great atmosphere! Friendly staff! Awesome bartenders and drinks! And the food is very well thought out and delicious. Please understand that they are working with a small kitchen and every order receives the same amount of love and care to prepare a wonderful experience. I saw a review on the shrimp tacos not having flavor?!? He/She must not have taste buds. I would have to say they are working with high quality ingredients as well. So stop on in and give this Mokena establishment a go. Parking is allowed to the rear/ East side of the restaurant as well as the METRA Lot after 5PM. Update: changing review to 10 stars!! Get here before you can’t!

Stopped in as we were in town and someone recommended it for the food. The food, so good, the steak bowl was so tasteful! The service, the space, awful. It was VERY busy for a Wednesday night, (no tables open) the acoustics made it so loud in there. We waited a bit for a server, which looked like only 2 were working and one was the bartender. We ordered 2 small margaritas, two bowls and two kids meals. The water came first, the server brough the 2 kids ADULT glasses of water...it eventually got spilled and I asked for a kids cups and they said they were out right now ( could have given us a small margarita glass? and I saw another kid with a kids cup). Well, that's why the water spilled. We couldn't find the server to clean up the water so we had to go ask the bartender for help. Which she cleaned with napkins, and placed the fallen cup BACK ON THE TABLE. After that, we still waited for a new cup of water... we never were offered, or brought one. We had to flag our waitress down for napkins, and utensils to eat with as well. We got our margaritas and one was a large and one a small, we ordered two small but accepted them to avoid a wait. Not that good, looked clear? basically just sour mix ( would just order Pepes margaritas instead) Not sure if they were understaffed that day but could be better. The food was great! but for 77 dollars, the service could have been better. Maybe the tips can provide uniforms for the staff too?

This place is amazing inside and out! The tacos were incredible and delicious. The wall murals, comic covered bar top, and interior design is so unique and cool. Happily surprised they also had a partnership beer with Blue Island Beer Co! Comfortable seating, great food, good tunes, and friendly staff make this my go to spot for a dinner night out! Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the Mokena area.

Atmosphere and service were great. I wish I could say the food was amazing but it was just mid tier especially for the price. I felt like I could have made the same tacos at home. The side I got (bean streets) was actually the highlight of the meal.

3-18-22 update We came back and they had everything on yhe menu! I got to try the red skull and the barnyard lu'au along with the hulk smash. I also picked up the special fish taco, which is basically the whippersnapper with cod. Everything came out warm and tasted great, service was very good as well. We had a couple hiccups but nothing noteworthy. I do have to say the red skull was pretty darn good. They are definitely getting in the swing of things!! Thanks again. Let me preface this review with; we came in a larger group and they have only been open for like a month. This isnt a chain or anything, so there will be some growing pains. Onto the review. The drinks weren't really that good and the pina colada was pretty small and mostly flavorless. We also tried the horchata milkshake and it was one of the smallest milkshakes I've ever seen for 6$. I was really bummed out that they were out of the "limited" tacos 3 hours after opening but the waitress said they didnt get thier shipment yesterday( i will be back to try these!). Because of our large group and 20+ tacos we ordered, our food came out a bit cool. However, we understood the place is new I think they only have 1 or 2 people prepping in the back so whatever. The flavor of the tacos however was awesome! I had a vigilante, nashville, and the ground beef one and I thought they were really good. They were pretty darn big as well. For a side they were out of the hulk rice, which was a bummer but the beans looked tasty so I went with those. They were top notch, I really enjoyed them, and so did everyone in my party. As for the service, it was pretty good, we spent about an hour there. The decorations of the place are pretty cool but I think there is tons they can do for improvement to push the super hero theme. Get some funko pops, put on some super hero movies instead of horse racing or maybe a slide show of super heros, sky is the limit with your idea! Oh i love the comic book style menu btw! TLDR; service and food are fantastic. Drinks not so much. Dont come in a large group until they get established. Thanks guys, good luck, looking forward to visiting you for a red skull taco!

OMG ZAP, BAM, POW! Best unique taco joint ever! If you like plain old tacos, go to to Taco Bell. This is a unique taste experience, tacos on steroids. You can order a plain taco, but just go to Fat Rosie’s or Pico de Gallo if you want that. This is for those who are tired of the same old tacos! Makes tacos relevant again! We’ll definitely be returning and hope they do more experimenting, I like being their taco guinea pig. Highly recommended.

These tacos were legit. My favorite was the shrimp one, by far!! My daughter ordered the bowl but it was too spicy. It definitely had a kick to it but it was really good. They do some sort of green rice that was delicious. It's a very interesting place. I'd recommend stopping by this place!
