5/5 tasty!
I stopped by for lunch during a week day, and was helped pretty much right away. After having a bad dinner elsewhere the night before, I was in dire need for a tasty meal.
I was not disappointed with the Volcano Ramen(full spicy).
It hit the right spot from start to finish. They were generous on the chashu and the ramen. Everything worked well together.
The atmosphere was pretty interesting, a little on the club end, but it didn't take away from tasty food.
I would recommend if you need a good meal.
Great ramen. Big chunk of pork belly. Huge amount of noodles. We ordered the rich garlic one and the tonkatsu paiton. With 1 beer it was 40$ before taxes.
Vibes were immaculate, but the food was just okay. The atmosphere has really cool lighting and decorations, definitely a fun environment. The bar is also very fun. However, the ramen itself was a little disappointing. The presentation was super nice, but the broth wasn’t as flavorful as expected. Still a place worth checking out though!
There is only one vegetarian Raman which is great. I am also very pleased they have vegetarian pot stickers.
The tea is also very good.
After a-couple visits we have just accepted the service is very slow and to expect to spend 1-2 hours here for our meal. But when the food does come it comes out fresh and hot. It’s a great place to sit and lounge to have a lot of time to talk to your company. But drinks may be slow.
We enjoy a slower paced dining experience so we reserve this for a casual evening where we want to enjoy the company we have
Food was great! Service was great! Quiet little ramen place tucked back in a corner, this quiet restaurant is great if your looking for a good bowl of ramen! If I had to say one bad thing about this place, it would be that there really isn't much on the menu l, But the food that IS there, is fantastic!
Place was super cute, very nostalgic and cultured. Made my wife and I feel like we were in an authentic ramen place in Japan. Our waiter was nice, our drinks were a little watered down and the seating is very close to others. Food took a while but it’s because it was fresh and hot when it arrived to out table.
The exterior and interior of the restaurant are fun! I was looking forward to trying this place after seeing pics of the food. The ramen was decent. Our server seemed overworked. I ordered a lunch special, which included a drink, so I ordered the iced momo oolong tea. My husband got his lemonade right away. I was told my drink would be coming out soon while I was waiting on my food. Then our server brought out our food, thanked us for our patience, and walked away before I could say anything about not having tea. We were not checked on while eating. As I was taking the last bite of my food, our server brought the tea. I asked if I could get a to-go cup for it and was told there were none. No sort of resolution was offered. I do not plan on coming back.
Pretty much instantly the best ramen restaurant in Bloomington. Portion sizes are a little small.
It's on the pricier side and the side dishes have questionable prices. ONE chicken wing skewer is $3. With tax and tip, that comes out to $4. The prices match what others are doing but the portions are much smaller.
Yatagarasu's ramen is very well rounded, with good marks across the board. It could compete with ramen restaurants in larger cities; here in Bloomington, it's the only good, authentic ramen place.
I had the garlic tonkotsu ramen. I enjoyed that there was a blend of raw and cooked garlic tastes incorporated into the dish. I think it's nice that they put black garlic oil into this ramen.
Broth: 4/5
Smooth, tasty broth on the slightly milder side.
Toppings: 4.5/5
Interesting glaze on the chashu. It has a noticeable teriyaki/sweet taste to it. I think it pairs well with the ramen but it came cold.
Noodles: 4/5
Curly, al-dente. I'm more of a fan of straight noodles but these pick up the broth well. I felt that there was less noodles in my bowl than there should have.
Overall a very solid place to eat, and the only place in Bloomington that serves good Japanese ramen.
