I had such a wonderful experience! I am not certain if reservations are required, but I made them. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The live acoustic jazz was giving life to everyone present. The food was good except for one appetizer and how the food was delivered.
While eating my appetizer, with the plates on the table, the server came to serve our entree and then became upset with us because there was nowhere to place the plates. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave excellent recommendations.
More importantly, let's not forget the complimentary table massage. While sitting down and waiting to be served, a young lady (staff member) came over and asked if I would like a massage. Her hands were a gift from above. The tension in my shoulders was relieved instantly, and along with the good food I was ready for bed by the time I left.
Top tier 10/10
Came here for a date nite and enjoyed it! Live band, free back massage, and incredible building layout! Our waiter was so busy that he really couldn’t focus a lot of attention on us. All of our food came out at once. The appetizer and our entrees. We had to constantly ask for water and soda refills. The food was delicious never the less. Just wish they had more staff. We received champagne upon entrance.
I'll start with the good then the NOT so bad:
LOVED the atmosphere🤌🏾 with the live band and singers, it was busy and loud which told me two things ¹ this is someplace everyone wants to be on this night and ² the loudness was from cheers, laughter and conversations(GOOD VIBES)!
LOVED everything I tried on the menu from the Japanese "Bourbon" drink to the spicy soup to the duck with noodles in an amazing broth to the lemon velvet cake(GOOD FOOD) everyone around me was taking pics of their food. We eat with our eyes so that was a good sign.
*My only gripe was the fact that it was so busy our waiter didn't have a lot of time for us, he took care of our orders when he could(placing orders for apps and drinks). Most times it was other waiters addressing our concerns, wants and needs(like typing off water glasses, taking plates, bringing dessert and the bill). If that was by design then good job solving a major problem.
🤏🏾Overall, I couldn't blame him based on the type of night they were having. But a gripe nonetheless 4/5🤏🏾
We weren't impressed. 1st strike they didn't have the masseuse working, they advertise having someone give massages while you wait for your food but because of holiday they weren't available. This was the main reason we went. 2nd strike they were out of pork Belly. 3rd strike the server separated our ticket wrong! What they did well, the food was good. My first time having Pai Tai, my only complaint the shrimp needed to be seasoned. The salt and pepper shrimp was really good. My sister added a lobster and it wasn't seasoned. For $25 extra it should have been perfect. The octopus was tasty but too small. The snapper was delicious!! But for the portion was not worth $65!! The wonton was delicious but cold. My dumplings were good too but they only gave us 3. My hubby ordered the Mongolian beef, the portion was really small but it was good. The Mai Tai was great! The other drink was not strong expensive and small. The ice cream presentation was awesome but the ice cream is nasty!! It's very thick!
The live was music was Amazing! We really enjoyed the ambiance. The decor was really nice. The server didn't check on us, we had to flag her down. This place was a 45 min drive for us so I wouldn't go out of the way to go back. To find it, if you're passing the mall it's the building next to state farm. It's free parking up to 2 hours.
The ambiance was good because of the live band and the music. After that, it went downhill fast. The place was crowded, so the wife and I thought we were in for a treat. They seated us upstairs, where it was too dark. Couples were complaining because we all had to use our phones to read the menu. Yes, physical, not a qr code taking you to an online menu to read on your phone.
All drinks that we wanted to order were extremely overpriced. And they didn't really know how to make them.. The waiter asked me 3 times about my beverage. And by the time he was done for my beverage, it was going to cost $86. My wife beverage still costs $46, and we were okay with it until we noticed that they didn't make it proper. As well.
I ordered the chicken cashew that would come in a pineapple. It was the smallest pineapple i've ever seen, and the food was cold. We had no serving spoon for the dish as well. As although it was stated on the menu that it would be served with Jasmine rice, there was NO to be found. We had to ask two different waiters for rice.
Eventually, the manager was sent our direction. And she asked what the problem was. She literally said we can't do anything about my order. Didn't offer to help. Just took out plates and left. Paid over $100 for a horrible experience.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND OR GOOD BACK THERE AGAIN. AVOID AT COST.
Title: Mixed Experience
I recently visited Yao and had a mixed experience. The bartender, who impressed with excellent service and crafted some fantastic drinks. The crab fried rice was a culinary delight, delivering on flavor and quality.
However, I encountered a disappointment when it came to the promised complimentary massages. I called ahead on a Saturday night, specifically inquiring if they were available on Sundays. The lady who answered confirmed they were, but upon arrival on Sunday, it turned out to be untrue—massage services were only offered on Friday and Saturday nights. This inconsistency left me feeling let down, prompting me to give Yao three stars.
Despite this hiccup, the overall atmosphere and the delightful drinks make it a worthwhile spot, especially if you're there on the right night for the full experience.
The food was so so good! I was really impressed that everything we ordered was a hit! The service was really outstanding. The food came out very quickly. There was a live band playing and it really brought the atmosphere to life. I’m looking forward to going back soon!
I have had this spot on my list of places to check out. I was originally scheduled to dine here in November of 2023 but had to cancel my reservation at the last minute. A friend asked me this week if I would be interested in checking it out on Saturday night. She made us a reservation for 9pm.
I used a GPS app to find this place. It did not exactly get me to the restaurant. The GPS told me to turn off Hammod drive onto perimeter center parkway. You should continue on Hammond drive. Louisiana Bistreaux Seafood will be on your left on the corner. Yao is next door. Keep driving and the parking garage is on the left. The garage is free for 2 hours.
When we walked in we were immediately seated. Our server was Pao. He recommended drinks and food items to try. I ordered still water and the octopus. My friend ordered an alcoholic drink and the crab wontons to start. The wontons arrived quickly as did the drink. However, the octopus took a very long time to come out. My friend had finished her appetizer prior to the octopus arriving . For entrees I ordered the crab fried rice and my friend ordered the Mongolian beef.
I thought the crab wontons and octopus were average. I would not have to order either app again. My entree was terrible! Our server said it was one of the top selling items! It was bland and just not good. I had to ask for a sauce to make it edible. My friend said she did enjoy her beef entree. I hate to say this, but the water was the best item for me!
Service was ok- nothing special, honestly a little slow. I did enjoy the live music and the massage. ( it says they are complimentary but expect to tip).
Overall I spent $88 for dinner and a 3-4 minute massage. NOT WORTH IT!
NOTE: gratuity is included on all checks
NOTE: the kitchen closes at 10pm on Saturday night.

First time but won't be the last! Those waffles at the salad bar are amazing. I wasn't eating meat this time around, but the salmon with chimmichuri sauce was delicious. Lost a star on service because they completely forgot to put our order in and th

Food was delicious. I had to order to go because I was working but everything was superb. The bison burger is by far the best bison burger I have ever had. It was juicy but well done (the way I like my burgers). The fries were crispy but still soft i
