Peaceful place to walk dogs. Blacktop paths and grassy areas are well maintained. I like to walk near the Oak trees for the for the shade on warmer days.

This beautiful preserve located in Oak Forest is tucked away quite literally in an Oak forest. Featuring a wonderful 5k (3.1 mile) paved loop which winds and rolls around the George W. Dunne National Golf Course.
Plenty of natural beauty along the way. Rolling hills, a lush wetand, and varies other nooks and comforts along the way. The forest is also home to a range of birds and animals.
If you're looking for a place to spend a pleasant morning or afternoon you found it!
Whether going for a walk, run, or bike ride, it's nice to weave in and out of peaceful forestry and urban suburbia.
Absolute BEST bike trail I've been on. You will get a nice peaceful ride, but also a good workout. The best part about this trail is that if you follow the red trail, it will loop around back to where you came from! Most trails you have to turn around and go back, this trail you don't. It's the perfect length too (about 10-12 miles). Highly recommend if you enough biking/walking/jogging/rollerblading/walking your dog.
YANKEE WOODS Forest Preserve of COOK COUNTY, IL located in Oak Forest is a great spot for your 3 mile walk around the golf course. I have used this trek many times to get my steps in. It has a nice covered pavilion with many picnic tables / access to public grilling located off the parking lot for your added convenience. The entrance I use is located on 167th St / Central Ave. The walking trail is paved road fairly flat .. no terribly steep hills. I find athletic shoes to be a plus but special hiking shoes are not necessary. The trail is wooded and you will walk around a residential area but not through one with the golf course as a backdrop. A portion of the trail outskirts 159th St., before looping back to 167th St. I find walking within a group the best way to enjoy this trail as there are sections that obscure vision of other people for safety sake. Many people walk their dogs and ride bikes also. I would recommend YANKEE WOODS FOREST PRESERVE Oak Forest, IL as a nice spot for family / friends to gather impromptu or for planned gatherings. I am not sure if you need to contact the appropriate personnel for large parties prior to facilitating.

This is a nice scenic 2 mile path perfect for a nice walk, run, or bike ride. Be sure to stop on the scenic overview and check for frogs in the creek under the bridge!
Excellent spot! The owner and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Everything is very well maintained and clean. Offer vertical and horizontal beds of varying levels, as well as spray tans. Highly recommend!
