Don't confuse Old World Charm with Old and in need of repair. The drawers in our room would not open and close with ease. The mattress did not fit the bed as there was a gap at the top where the pillows would fall in the crack as there was no headboard. Only 1 chair in the room with 2 guests and the mirror above the fireplace was not useful as you could not use it to see anything. The only towel rack in the bath was over the toilet where the 2 towels provided were hung and not reachable from the small shower. A towel rack near the shower and sink would have been helpful. Breakfast was basic and the exact same every day of our stay which was 4 days. Most of the staff were not friendly. When they would enter a room in the morning, they didn't even say good morning. Not once did anyone ask if we had everything we needed. I never saw the host. After sightseeing around town, there were so many other nice places to stay but the website was attractive. Don't be fooled by pretty pictures.
I stayed here for one night. Most of the staff were very friendly. Location was very convenient, a quick walk to lots of restaurants/ shops.
The rooms were well maintained, but do have some quirks since it's an older building. For example, the rooms are not very soundproof, so you could hear noise from outside and there wasn't really anywhere to put anything in the bathroom. An empty shelf or cart would have helped a lot.
Decent continental breakfast and appreciated that parking was included. I personally wasn't bothered that some had to double park and leave their keys with the staff.
Yankee Peddler Inn is in a prime location. It could use updates with its decor. The rooftop deck was a delight. The continental breakfast was eh. Although the basement was cool, with its stone walls. It has so much potential regarding upgrades. Overall I would recommend it, the staff was knowledgeable and professional. The location can’t be beat.
AMAZING. If we return to Newport, I hope we can get a room here again. Very old-school house, so don't expect serious tech amenities, but they definitely do their best. It is charming, the rooms are decorated beautifully, the roof deck is amazing- really worth a stay. The only complaint I have is the lack of ventilation in the bathroom- a steamy shower can be a problem when there isn't a vent or window that opens.
If TV is a big deal to you, maybe ask for a room with a larger one. We didn't use the one in our room but it might have been a challenge to view from the bed if we had. Breakfast was lovely- continental, but better than the usual chain version. Service was great. Location was amazing.
This inn is a good value for the area and is close to shops and restaurants. The parking is tight, so you may want to make sure to get a small rental car. We had the double queen room, which was adequate in size. The room could use another mirror, and the bathroom has limited space to put your toiletries. Also, towel racks or hooks were absent. We found that just a few inexpensive additions like this would really help! The beds were comfortable and I slept very well with all the waking during the day. Loved the chocolate chip cookies and delicious coffee daily.
Super cute inn with a spectacular location! Walk to downtown Newport/waterfront, Broadway street (more local), and mansion district. Lots of great perks like free off-street parking, afternoon cookies, evening wine (from Newport Winery), and a great rooftop deck. We loved sitting up on the deck having a drink and chatting with other guests. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the evening also.||Rooms are clean and comfortable, but nothing spectacular decor wise. Our room was good sized, nice bathroom amenities, nice sheets. Staff was outstanding...very helpful and friendly. There was also a refrigerator for guests to use, beach towels, and a continental breakfast.||You can't beat this place for value while staying in Newport! We will definitely be back next time we're there and highly recommend it!
Exceptional service! Decided to stay an extra night! I was in town as an exhibitor at the Newport Rare Book Fair and wanted a quant inn close to our venue, The service was impeccable! Very friendly staff! The homemade cookies set out were so good as well as the complimentary Wine Tasting with local wines which was a welcome treat! Our first 3 nights were in the Carriage house and 4th night in the Main House on the 2nd floor. Rooms were very clean and room 18 had the most comfy bed! I’m not much of a breakfast person and the Continental breakfast suited our needs; muffins, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereals etc etc were good. No coffee makers in rooms which was fine as coffee was set out Very Early. There is a roof top area I didn’t use as it was very cool outside but looked very nice. A very convenient location and would recommend! When I came back to lobby area around 11 pm exhausted I had a nice visit in lobby area with the staff who offered the comp wine which was very good to unwind and have a friendly conversation with!|Very clean rooms. Parking tight but doable. Ask about ghost stories!
My mom and I stayed last week in Room 3 and had a wonderful time at the Inn. Yes, parking is a little tricky, but so appreciative of even having a parking spot! I suggest parking as far back in the lot as you can, to make for an easier exit as it gets crowded. This Inn is a perfect location for visiting downtown, and going to the Mansions. The breakfast and cookies are wonderful. The room was very spacious.|Sadly, on our last night, just as we walked into our room in the late afternoon, we got a call from our Vet, informing us that our senior dog was not doing well (who was being boarded). We packed up our room in about 5 minutes, (I forgot my phone charger), very upset, and started on the 4 hour drive back to NY to be with our pet. We found out about an hour into the drive that he was doing much better; we are so grateful he is ok. |When I contacted the Inn this week to check if we could get a possible refund for the 1 night (1 of the staff had mentioned), we were told no, b/c it was too late to turn over and re-sell the room for the night. No partial refund, or credit was offered. I am not sure we would stay again, as this kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. |Other than that, the Inn is a great place to stay. Just don't have any emergencies!!|
