Beautiful, natural, quieter spot in the hustle and bustle of the city. Escape to the river!
Hiking or biking, the trail along the Yahara River is a great way to spend some of the day. And make sure you stop by the Windsor Bakery for amazing muffins, coffee and other treats.
Fishing with the grandkids.had alot of fun, been here numerous times including the flooding couple years ago
Hidden swim spot off the limestone steps. Just check online for blue green algae warnings. 5 stars mainly for nostalgia
Grades 6 through 8 the school bus system would drop all first bus students off on Thorton Ave right at what was then Marquette Middle School. Spring and fall of the year I would walk immediately across the street and find a comfortable boulder near the river's edge. Some mornings I'd eat a sandwich on those rocks and crust the ducks. Other mornings I'd laugh with friends or eavesdrop on others. From the time the busses dropped us off, we didn't have more than 30mins before the first bells would ring. I never sat the rocks along the shore on any summer day, though I spent many summer hours at this very section of The Yahara River. In winter thoughts of the river would all but go dormant with the frigid weather. Schooling on the east side of Madison, WI in the 1980s was a paradise for the young. I wanted for nothing.
This is Madisons Danube as far as beautiful parks bridges and walk ways in the heart of the East side... If you haven't been to Flotilla it is one of my favorite events on this river!
If you're looking for a gorgeous place to walk along the Yahara River, this is the park for you! Especially if you have a dog, since dogs are allowed to walk on the grass as long as they're on a leash!
Great place to walk or run any season of the year. Lots of character and close to good coffee places and restaurants. A good balance between nature and urban areas.

Great place to just relax and fish! Clean atmosphere and great views. I couldn't find any bathrooms nearby. I am not from around this area so, not sure where they're found. Overall, it's an awesome spot to distress!
Disc golf review. By no fault of its own, my only complaint is the distance this course is from home. Well worth the 90 minute drive if you plan to play a few rounds. The course is built on a hill and your first concrete tee shot it looking up into a
Really big park tucked backed in the Far East side of Madison. Has a variety of paths or trails through wooden areas and in small creek prairie area. Really nice newer playground equipment, 2 bball courts, and 2 full sized soccer fields! Some really
Awesome spot for pictures, rock hounding, neat driftwood specimens, picnicking, dipping your toes in the water, and slowing down to remember how beautiful the simple things in life are. It's one of my favorite places in a city full of gems. I swear,
I came to the skatepark to teach my nine-year-old twins to skate, everybody at this place was so welcoming and cool. They made my kids feel right at home, the skate park itself is badass! Zero complaints, everything is perfect! Can't say enough good
I am obviously biased as this park is in my backyard, but the new park shelter and playground are amazing. It is such a joy to have this in our neighborhood. We also helped get the Community Garden going this year, which was an incredible addition
Great little park. The perfect jumping of point for many adventures. Sits on lake shore path, right near Monona Terrace on the west, and machinery row bike shop on the east. Free parking after 6 and on the weekends.
A nice little park hiding only a couple blocks off Cottage Grove Road. A play area with swings, slide and climbing toys; also a large field for baseball, soccer, frisbee, etc. There's a medium sized pavillion with picnic tables, and a small (2- door
