Do not be fooled by the (very) unassuming building--I am convinced X Files Recovery is the best place I could've chosen for my data recovery needs. I had an external hard drive that randomly crapped out after only 3 years and I was DEVASTATED at the thought of losing everything that was on it. Chris kept me updated throughout the process and he was amazingly able to recover everything I wanted despite my hard drive being in really bad shape. I was over the moon. I had no idea data recovery was so expensive before this, but I know Chris gave me a super fair price compared to another quote I was given. He also got me a new hard drive to put the salvaged data on, and gave me some great advice. Then, when I was having trouble with the hard drive two years later, he went above and beyond to find the solution (it was the cable I was using). I recommend him wholeheartedly!

Saw this as a random listing on Google maps. I called the number first and I’m very glad that I did, because the ADDRESS IS NOT CURRENT. Chris Ionescu operates out of a residential address in Malden. Honestly, learning that this was a residential address gave me concern, but, given that Micro Center was going to charge me $1500, I decided to give X-Files a try on the strength of his reviews. Sooo glad I did! Chris saved everything (60gb) from the failing hard drive on my old MacBook, and did it for less than half the cost (also 6 days instead of 2 weeks!) Chris also took the time to explain the details of things that I should know, and gave me good advice on how to move forward with my failed computer. Thank you, Chris!

Great experience with Chris. I dropped my hard disk by accident and the disk stopped working - it had all our family photos/videos, essentially years worth of memories!. While I was lucky that the disk wasn't damaged, it was still an onerous task for data recovery since it was hard to find an exact match for the firmware/hardware components. While I gave up, Chris didn't and he was able to recover all the files, with a lot of effort. Yes, it cost me a non-trivial amount (others are more expensive) and took some time, but certainly worth it Thank you Chris and X Files recovery - I would recommend anyone with a disk problem to try X Files, they do their best!

I highly recommend X Files and Chris Ionescu. He was able to recover my documents, photos, and music from a damaged hard drive. The price is reasonable for the work required, and Chris is a good person to work with. I brought the hard drive to him after our office IT guy was unable to recover anything. I left the hard drive with Chris, and he called me back in 2 days with the good news that he thought a lot of the data was recoverable, and with an estimate of the cost. This is a great service. He is very very thorough and recovered more than 95% of my data, which was mostly my life in Photo's. He is meticulous and went through my external hard drive several times to make sure he didn't miss anything. Chris was wonderful to work with. I would highly recommend his services.

I sent my damaged external hard drive to a large, well-known, West-Coast data recovery service that was recommended by my regular computer guy. After a fair amount of finagling over the quote, they responded that the damage was too great and they were unable to save any of my files. I decided to get a second opinion locally. Chris was not originally very optimistic considering the first feedback, but he was super diligent and he was finally able to salvage a significant percentage of my photos (which I had asked him to target). Not all, but a lot of them, which is better than none. Final price was less than quoted by the other company. Chris was also very patient in giving me advice about other ways I might attempt to salvage the rest of my photos as well as the best ways to back up my files. Definitely recommend.
