Wyndham Southbury - Hotel in Southbury - 1284 Strongtown Rd, USA

The hotel was clean. The rooms were not new; however, they were well kept. It just took a bit to turn on the shower faucet - it had been turned so tightly. The staff was very friendly and well informed. Our room had a slight musty smell - not enough to bother with changing rooms. The pool water was nice and warm. It looked clean and inviting. We didn't swim because there were others at the pool. The downside was that the restaurant downstairs was closed when we stayed...no coffee or tea in the lobby. If you're going to stay, you might want to check to see if the restaurant is going to be open. There was a breakfast takeout restaurant within walking distance, or a short drive. We did have a single coffee maker in our room with 2 coffee packets and 1 tea packet.

Easy off/on from I-84. Was a bit confusing finding the main entrance- need bigger signage! It’s a non-smoking facility & as someone who is very sensitive to cigarette smoke, I appreciate that! Arrived for check-in at 9:30pm. You could smell the pool as we walked in. Very pleasant gentleman at the front desk. No “uboat” available to help us get our luggage to the room. Clean, huge double-queen room. For the three of us, we didn’t feel cramped at all. Beds were exceptionally snuggly & comfortable (for me, a little too soft). Room temperature was set for 68 degrees, so it was warm when we arrived. Easy to adjust thermostat to a comfortable 64 degrees for sleeping. Plenty of pillows (6 provided, so 2 each!) Bathroom clean & roomy. There’s a Restaurant on premises, but they were closing just after we arrived, so I had to quickly find a local restaurant that was still serving to order take-out dinner. A pleasant stay. Would return should we be in the area again.

This place was pretty empty. I paid my $50 for my dog. I was placed at the very last end room. Of course, they placed another room with a dog right across the hall from us. A little yippee dog who certainly enjoyed yapping all night long. There were no services. No breakfast. No coffee. Nothing. The place was worn out. I had a terrible time trying to get hot water in the shower. The toilet did not flush properly, which is probably why there was still someone's mess still in the toilet. Could not get the heat/a.c. to work.

Beds and pillows were super comfortable. Room was clean. Great bar and restaurant with a decent breakfast buffet. Nice gym with a great pool. Staff was very friendly and took care of anything we needed. Great staycation, looking forward to going back! ***The hotel itself could use a little freshening up and needs some cosmetic repairs, but nothing that affects your stay there.

We really like this location and I have always had good experience at Wyndham. The front desk gentleman was very professional and helpful. We traveled with our big dog and everybody was very nice. The room was excellent very clean. The grounds were very nice and maintained. Thank you for a great stay. I would highly recommend this location.

We LOVE this hotel. My husband’s family lives nearby so the location is super convenient for us. There are also fun things to do near by like, Ice Cream at Rich Farms, Hiking at Southford Falls, visiting the PEZ factory, the Mark Twain House or ghost hunting on the Connecticut Ghost tour. Even Lake Quassapaugh, open seasonally, has fun rollercoasters and lakeside cabanas. Besides the fun activities nearby the people who work in this hotel are the BEST! Aimee, at the front desk, went above and beyond to get us adjoined rooms and even checked us in early! Wow! The food is great, the bar is nice and the indoor pool is super fun for kids. We really feel like this is our second home whenever we come to town.

Great location. Not far off 84. Easy check in/check out process. We did have dinner at the restaurant. Food was good but only one waitress so service on the slower side but not her fault. We did order appetizer and a burger; all food came out at once would be my only complaint. Otherwise, we had a nice stay. On an informative note, this is a dog friendly property. Although we saw several dogs on the premises, we would not have known they were there without seeing them.

A decent Hotel with free parking and a restaurant that’s open on the weekends. The beds are good. The rooms are in good shape but the walls are kind of thin. The restaurant is open at odd times but is pretty good. The folks at the desk are very helpful and friendly. It’s in an area that doesn’t have too much that is close but you don’t have to go too far either.
