Wyndham Garden Romulus Detroit Metro Airport - Featured Reviews (2219)
I was happy to get a room near the airport as we had a 5:45 a.m. flight. That said, the room was shabby but not chic and had seen better days. The bathroom was minuscule however the shower did have good water pressure. There was no blow dryer. When my husband moved on the bed, I moved too. One wall was glass and had no soundproofing so we heard all noise and conversations from the hallway. From the airport, we waited 45 minutes for the shuttle while other hotels shuttles came 2 or 3 times before ours showed up. And there was not enough room in the small van for everyone waiting. If not for the kindness of a stranger (angel) that gave up his spot so the two of us could get on, we would have waited even longer. I did hear rumors that their bigger shuttle bus had broken down. Thankfully, they were able to get us back to the airport in a timely manner. Had to leave before breakfast but I can safely say that I have to believe there are better hotel choices near the airport.
We were provided good disabled bathroom accommodations. They had backup manual wheelchairs for city tours which was nice.
Our parking and entrance was close to motel room in less crowded area which was nice.
We were given fresh towels when asked each day.
Breakfast was good and convenient.
I would only add that maybe the hotel needs more baggage carts?
Room was clean and had all the typical sufficient things we needed.
Positive: The bed was comfortable, my kids were happy for the pool. My car didn't get broken into, safely lit parking. It was cheap. Negative: Our room was overdue for a deep clean. No fan in bathroom, results in the paint bubbling. The privacy sheer curtain is very see thru, I ran into a kid staring in a room where a couple were going at it, gross! I shooed him away. No tv remote. Ick.
Had a long layover.and wanted a nice place for the night.. well I found it.airport shuttle included. Jason the driver was great. Friendly front desk girl. Nice food pantry in the lobby.indoor pool with beautiful atrium was very peaceful. Gas station convenient store a short walk down the sidewalk. Yes they sell beer .
The hotel staff & Lounge staff were very kind and helpful. They are hard workers.
The room was dingy but the overall hotel was impressive based on the cost. My TV was not working, but that didn’t bother me and the front desk put in a work order immediately.
The only down side is that it took over 45 minutes to clean the lobby restroom.
It met our basic needs. Breakfast was OK, pool looked super foggy, so we didn't swim. The beds were clean and surprisingly comfortable. It wasn't the cleanist looking room, but you get what you pay for. It was a part of my daughters and I living on the edge weekend. It fit the profile perfectly! We definitely felt like we were living on the edge, staying there.
It's not perfect, but it wasn't exactly horrible.
If in a pinch, we would maybe stay again.
My father is high up in Delta, and I always used to stay at this hotel for fun as a little girl.. It was my favorite hotel by far. Ever since theyve gotten new management through Wyndham Gardens they’ve turned extremely racist. I suffer from severe Epilepsy, which requires me to have a service dog with me at all times.. in which one of those times my service dog has stayed there with me. Today, I woke up and had to take my medication before I could begin day to day activities.. such as taking my service dog outside to go to the bathroom. Therefore, I did not enter the lobby with my husband and service animal in time to catch the discrimination/racism on video.
My husband is of color. Without even a welcome, the front desk lady said to him”We don’t have any rooms available.” As to which he replied, “We booked online, we have our itinerary #.” Barely allowing him to finish his sentence, she added “Well even if so, no pets allowed!” When she told my husband no pets, he replied “This is my families service animal, she will be servicing my wife during our stay.” There was no pleasing this woman. My service dogs papers weren’t good enough, our booking number, Wyndham points, credit cards & cash. My husband’s intellectual capabilities and expeditious due diligence were immediately disregarded and dismissed the moment he walked in those doors. The color of his skin disqualified him from humanitarian assistance, hospitality, and even common courtesy… He was denied reservations due to discrimination & racism.
When I called to speak to a manager, the Caucasian lady at the desk claimed there wasn’t one available. She didn’t stop there, she went above and beyond to call the hotel we were staying at next door. Without a reasoning, she told the woman at the front desk not to allow us to extended our room. The lady at the front desk of the hotel we had been staying at for only 48 hours told her we had been wonderful guests. That we came with all of our service dogs paperwork, we were clean, quiet, friendly and respectful. I believe the lady at the Wyndham knew her discriminatory behavior was going to be reported to a higher authority and she quickly decided to cover her own tracks with false accusations against him. The quickest way to do that was to make a call to the hotel next door in which allegedly has the same management, and ban us from each hotel. Keep in mind, I was given back my deposit. So what other than racism and discrimination, was the real reason why no accountability was taken today? Why no repercussions or reasonable explanation was given to us. It’s incredibly heartbreaking to see what my husband has to face on a day to day basis due to his brown skin. I am very disgusted, angry, and appalled at Wyndham Gardens for their refusal to service People Of Color. And I pray that no other guest has to endure such injustice. This hotel has no interest in investigating their prejudice employees because they won’t even hear out the victims.
God bless America!
After I had to reach out via email to Wyndham properties regarding the filth/Mold around the soap tray and like 4 other things, Jason in maintenance(?) saved the day! Had to go back to my room for a minute, where my other business phone was and took a call that was quite urgent. I was gone from my personal phone and a few other belongings longer than I estimated.. between housekeeping and maintenance I have come across some friendly faces and I knew that somebody was probably looking out for me so I went to the front desk.. lo and behold there were my belongings. Jason took them as a precaution & I couldn’t appreciate that more as there were other people in the pool area. THANK YOU JASON!!!

If you have a flight out of DTW I highly recommend this hotel. We have stayed here 1/2 dozen times the last few years and have never been disappointed. The facility is clean and well maintained. Most recently we had a very early flight and weren't ab
A great location with plenty of amenities, including a full service restaurant with some of the best chicken and pancakes I've had! Besides the air conditioner being a little busted, and the low water pressure of the shower, the room was great. The b
Embassy Suites is one of my favorite places to stay no matter where they are. This one was nice. The free breakfast is always good with made to order omelets and pancakes. You can get scrambled eggs already made and thereâs usually a good choice o
We got 2 rooms for our party. Both rooms were clean and up to date. Front desk guy when we checked in was super sweet and the other staff we encountered were all friendly, "Hi, how are you? Have a good day." The breakfast was the typical carby stuf
Floors were filthy inside. Mud tracked in, carpets on second floor needed vacuuming. Elevators had not been cleaned in sometime. Ceiling in room was peeling near door. Space heater ran off and on, carpets were stained inside our room and worn.

I want to thank Romulus Flowers & Gifts SOO much! They helped us with a prank for a lost bet on my brother Mitch. He was dressed in an embarrassing Donald Duck costume and had to stop by and pick up 'daisies' from Romulus Flowers. Michelle the owne
