Such a beautiful park close to downtown Savannah. The famous arched trees with the long driveway is such a gorgeous site to see. There is a small fee to enter the park - this is at the front entrance before you drive down the long path. There is a small gift shop at the end and a few trails to walk along. This is a great stop of you have dogs to take out and wander around as well. Bring water and a picnic for a lovely day roaming the trails - also bring bug spray during those warm months.
Historical park close to downtown Savannah, famous for the picturesque long entrance road lined with arching mature live oak trees adorned with Spanish Moss.
Perfect photo opportunity!
There is a small fee to enter the park. If you do not have time to spend in the park, you can park momentarily in the bus parking area to take a few memorable photos.
The park offers trails with opportunities to hear and see birds as well as small animals.
It is well worth a short stop, even if just for a few photos.
What a beautiful park to visit. The entrance with the long road adorned with mature oak trees touching each other is magnificent. We followed the trails, visited the museum and colonial areas. A must see if you like nature and long walks on trails. Lots of birds and small animals to see. Wonderful sounds all around you.
Beautiful park and the oak lined drive is worth every second! They provide you a detailed map with the history of the place and all the things you can see. We did the 3-mile loop with our dogs in a thunderstorm. Was worth it though! Saw some deer, fiddler crabs, and native cacti!
It's a BEAUTIFUL place to visit, as it is the most popular site often seen in photos; however, once you drive down the main stretch at the beginning, it's just a lot of Savannah trees and flat land walking. And of course, that's beautiful, but after the entrance and the ruins, it's the same marshland.
At the time we went, it's $11 per adult to go in.
I thought this historical sight was interesting for what it was. The trails were great. The one thing that made NO SENSE to me with all the dried leaves and trees was that there were no NO SMOKING signs. The man walking in front of me was smoking a cigarette WHY??? A disaster waiting to happen.
What a great historical site to visit! The drive down the tree covered driveway is worth the price of admission alone. There are several short hiking trails going to different historical sites. We actually ran in to a Ranger there while hiking who really captivated us with his historical facts and stories. Include it in your visit you won't be sorry!
It’s magical, dreamy and majestic. The Oaks will speak to you. Nice trail also with historic ruins. We also met a lovely man who cares for the garden. We were also able to pick some corn 🌽 🤫 It’s definitely worth the visit to see something you will never see anywhere else.
