I'm not a fan of this place. Very dated, crowded, understaffed and overpriced. Food is tasty but not enough, server is in no hurry/grumpy and has many tables. Our group of 10 were sat in the bar and we couldn't hear the person next to us because of all the noise. Lots of regulars seem to love it here but it's not for me.
Went there for Christmas luncheon. Had reserved a Round table for 8 to 10 people. We were put in a cold room between the beer coolers an ice storage room. Food was good but sparse We we’re not offered bread or salad.. Oblong table with a small round table at the end. They promise a dining experience this was not a good one.
It’s too expensive for the quality of the food you get. My husband got a strip steak, and it was a bad cut- huge fat strip down the middle and poorly seasoned. Mashed potatoes were over seasoned. I ordered the Crab and Angel pasta with a citrus garlic beurre blanc sauce. I’ve had good beurre blanc sauce and this was not it. It was unbalanced and was very much over citrusy which overpowered the other delicate flavors of the sauce. Our waiter was fine. They were under construction so we were forced to eat in the bar. They put us right under a heater, so I had warm air just blasting me in the face. We won’t come back.
Generally the food and service is of a steady consistency here but the last few times it has been hit and miss. Today I didn’t care for my angel hair and crab, the crunchiness of the crab in the pasta irritated my throat. As for the service I didn’t care for the 15 minute wait before someone took my order, I didn’t feel like I was important, I just being a party of 1 will do that, and how shaky the hostess was when she asked if I had a reservation for lunch. I’m sorry y’all got slammed but that’s not my problem if you didn’t plan for a lot of people coming in for lunch on a Friday before the holiday. I wish I would have just walked out at the beginning.
Nice well known, well established restaurant that has been open since 1952. The food was very good and the staff was friendly and efficient. Definitely try the Wooden Nickel if you are in the area and in search of a local, non restaurant chain place to dine.
This was our first visit to this local spot after living in monroeville for close to 10 years. It could definitely use a little facelift, looked a bit dated. Very clean though. We started with bacon wrapped scallops which were very tasty but a small portion for the price. We also had the calamari which was also appetizing but the bottom was soaked in oil. I had the salmon Oscar, good but heavy on the salt. My friend had the truffle steak, he thoroughly enjoyed the steak but didn’t love the presentation with fries and fried onions. We ended the meal with reliable cheesecake. Overall the service was good, the food was good but not great. We’d definitely be back to try some other items on the menu.
Made reservations online and they never get these reservations. Only 1 waitress for all of the tables, so she worked really hard. Very nice experience though, waitress was nice and food was delicious! Lunch menu not too expensive.
Had the best time at this Italian restaurant. I was very impressed with the speedy service, and delicious food. The staff was so friendly, and treated my family and I as family as well. I would definitely go back and recommend this hidden gem to anyone.
Our waitress Debra was amazing. Attentive, pleasant, couldn't ask for more. Food was delicious and my drink Moms Time Out was amazing. Christmas decorations made the atmosphere nicer too. Will be back when in town
Ordered here today and it was absolutely delicious! I truly appreciate small, local businesses like this adding some diversity to food options in an area full of drive thru windows and chains. Wait was supposed to be 25 mins, it was ready sooner than
I canât say enough about the incredible experience my group and I had at Big Rigs BBQ during the Pittsburgh DJ Summit. From the moment we walked in, the staffâs warm welcome and exceptional customer service set the tone for a fantastic evening.
