We stayed here for two nights on a recent mountain biking holiday. We were greeted warmly when we arrived. The pool was closed but we had been informed of this prior to our arrival. This RV Park is a great location for accessing the bike trails near Sun Mountain. Our site # F002 was spacious and there was some shade. The lawn was obviously being watered because it was quite green. Super quiet location and conveniently located to Winthrop and its many activities. Heather and Bill

Jessie, Courtney, Mandy and Staff were all friendly, helpful, accommodating. Our site S17, is fantastic and our concerns were taken care of immediately. We have been camping here for nearly 2 decades and this KOA went through a rough patch last couple years, BUT this year bathrooms are clean, staff is professional and friendly (not creepy..) and all else was very business as usual. Some room for improvement: pool needs more attention, dust is an issue, watering needs to be more constant, store needs to more fun/stocked/open later.

This was one of my least favorite KOA experiences, unfortunately. I thought the campsites were cute and I liked the location. However, this was the first time I’ve noticed that no one went around to monitor the campsites at quiet time. I completely understand that a lot of people sit around the campfire with friends and family and have some fun during the 10-7 quiet hours, but the night we went there was a HUGE party. People were laughing, yelling, and being so obnoxiously loud until 1:30AM. Our next door neighbors were drunk, throwing up everywhere around their campsite and yelling SO loud. While I get that this location might be understaffed, it should still be a priority to enforce rules that campers are abiding to quiet time in respect to other campers. Bathrooms were clean which was nice.

Seems owners have let the place go. The pool was small and murky. No bathroom next to the pool is a poor choice. The playground is small and doesn't keep kids attention, no swings. No paved roads for scooters/bikes. Essentially, it's not a good KOA choice for kids. Without kids it could be good. Hanging out in the river, floating and going into town would be fun with just adults or older kids.

Very dusty, hot campground with little grass and few trees, RV spots are small with zero privacy or space. Staff is very strict about check-in/out. The pool is pretty cloudy but fun for kids. We really enjoyed the free live music. If we return to Winthrop, we’ll definitely stay at the state park.

Cons: 1. INFESTED WITH WASPS and Moths. I was chased by wasps the entire time. They were flying in my children’s face and around their heads everywhere we went. River, playground, walking, camping spot. You name it. They need to hire a pest control company and put up significantly more wasp traps. Probably the sticky kind would be best vs the ones with attractant that can attract more. 2. The pool was closed for unknown reasons for unknown time. 3. It would be nice if they had larger trees for shade. So many RVs and campsites were in the direct Sun and at 99+ degrees everyone was too hot and every camper was having issues staying cool. 4. Front desk service didn’t seam to really care that wasps were an issue. “It’s just that time of year” with that attitude and at that rate it’s just going to get worse and worse every year. 5. Showers provided one whole minute of hot water and nobody else was showering but me. Pros 1. Nice campground with neat things for kids. 2. Nice location 3. Winthrop is beautiful. 4. Their store is really cute, however it’s heavily overpriced so I didn’t buy anything.

A great campground but we miss the family that used to run it. They took personal care of everyone. Now it’s a little more like a business with more rules and more fees. Wish they stocked more food like pint milk and the price of firewood reflects supply and demand principle. Great place for kids, big enough to let them roam a little with activities, toy rentals, etc.

Campground location can’t be beat for access to northern cascades. The laundry and showers were clean enough. However, for a KOA Holiday and the price, they are not offering more than any KOA Journey we have been to. Jumping pad is broken and gone and even on a Saturday there were zero activities being run. The pool was nice and the access to the river fun but that was about it. The spaces were level/rock but the grass between is dead/nonexistsnt so it’s basically dirt in between and everywhere causing a messy camping experience.

The best! We booked last minute and got a great tent site, right on the lake with a small beach! What more could a #130 Malamute ask for? Bathrooms were clean and accessible, parking was easy and crowd was pleasant and quiet. I must admit, the night
