Winthrop Beach Inn and Suites - Featured Reviews (244)
Very nice & roomy boutique style hotel. There are no elevators as it’s an older building. The bar downstairs was a nice quiet place to unwind. The hotel is right near the bay. There is no hotel desk clerk, so if you need something in the middle of the night, there is LITERALLY NO ONE to contact. The restaurant staff ck you in. They said the hotel owner is working on staffing a clerk. Otherwise it’s a lovely out of the busyness of Boston place to stay.
I stayed here for a month several years ago and enjoyed the experience. However, over the last few years, this place seems to be on-again/off-again. There is often no information on Tripadvisor and no response when I leave a message on the hotel's phone. I was in Winthrop a couple of weeks ago and went by to see what was going on. There were cars in the parking lot (maybe local neighbors) but the hotel door was locked. A sign on the door told how to leave them a message. I did that and never heard back. Too bad. If they have to close down now and then, they should have some way of transmitting their status to potential guests.
The room was oppressively hot and the windows opened 6 feet above the floor, so a fan was useless. The neighboring house had a window that looked directly into the room, so the blinds had to be kept closed, further decreasing any type of breeze. The location was very close to the beach, bus stop and excellent restaurants. Requested linen service took overnight for one issue, due to the fact that only one person or housekeeper was in attendance. The bed was fairly comfortable, but this was probably one the most unpleasant hotel experiences I've had in a very long time.
Staff is rude and act like you’re not even standing there waiting. Hospitality isn’t their strong suit. Breakfast was subpar. The rooms were stained on the couch, bed and the bathroom tub did not drain so my shower was cut short. When I told the front desk they said “ management has known about the issue and are working on it” management? They offered no money off for our troubles and I left feeling fooled out of money. Not my first choice anymore when visiting the area and I’d rather pay more somewhere else knowing I’ll get actual food, a working tub and a polite front desk. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The outside look historic which is fine though the inside is renovated. That being said, it’s freezing in the halls and the heat sucked in our room. The kitchen was an icebox which made it unbearable to sit and eat any longer than 5 mins. We left and ate elsewhere.
The hotel is rated as a 2* but it is lovely. Fresh rooms, immaculately clean and friendly staff.
The room was very quiet. We never heard the other guests. The bed was comfortable and the room bright and airy.
If we are ever back in Boston it will be our first choice to stay again.
Not sure what people expect from a place that is at most half the price of other hotels. This place is awesome, it's ran by young people who are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, good looking and practical. There was a kitchen with sink and microwave in my room. The bed was good. Big flat-screen TV. Iron + board. Everything clean. Parking is available for extra $10.
Got a complementary bottle of wine.
Uber to downtown Boston was $16 and it took about 15 minutes to get there with no traffic.
I'm definitely staying here next time I'm in Boston.
I had stayed here over the weekend and will not go back... we were excited to get a partial kitchen. But we were not given any towels AT ALL.. no hand towels, no bath towels, no tissues. There was literally 2 sheets of paper towels on the roll. When we addressed this they did bring us 2 bath towels, but nothing else. What little dishes we did use we had to leave in the sink due to no way to wash them properly. We were on the 1st floor and you could hear people in the halls and other rooms all night long. Also, there is absolutely no parking... the parking lot in the google photos is not for guests and you will be towed if you stay there.
On the plus side it is only 1 block from the beach, so that was perfect, but in the future we will find someplace else to stay.
We booked a room with a king bed, and when we got there, they gave us a queen and had NO alternatives. That meant two adults and a baby had to work with a queen-sized bed. They also didn't update their google listing, so the "free breakfast" actually wasn't a thing. They did give a refund, but because they were transitioning to long stays rather than a quick stay like we did, I think they could care less about our stay. I definitely recommend that people are cautious about using this company. To book a king room and then not give it is unprofessional, no matter the excuse. (We ended up taking a refund and booking elsewhere.)
I have been a member at Tradewinds for about 6 months now and I am so glad I found this gym. The coaches and other members are so welcoming and I instantly felt like I belonged. The programming is challenging and fun and I never regret a workout. I
All I can say is WOW! This place is absolutely amazing! The food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere. It was packed when we went but somehow quiet enough that we could talk to each other without having to yell. My favorite dish was the eggplant
It's not a touristy spot but beautiful for pictures and a nice walk. I love seeing the local spots, and this is definitely one of them. Perfect spot for a picture of the Boston skyline.
Found this little gem while waiting for someone to get off work in Boston. Beautiful and quaint sized park located on a cliff with a wonderful view. The grass is well manicured and the landscaping is nice. There are several seating areas located at t
I can't say enough about this place. Out of all, the House of Pizza places have been through in Boston and the surrounding areas. This is definitely one of the best. The pizza is always fresh it tastes great and is consistent. The customer service in
This place holds a special place in our hearts. We lost someone very special to us a couple of years ago, and we held a memorial dinner there. She loved it there, so it was fitting. The staff is very good at what they do and the food is constantly ve
Winthrop Yacht Club is a great place to enjoy the water! The marina has slips for 167 boats, and there is a beautiful view of the sunrise from the club's deck. The club also has a restaurant and bar, and there are often events and activities taking p
Hoping Dom is able to re-open someday. He has always been good to me. I have shopped there for a few years as a collector of NES. Small businesses like his are few and far between these days due to sites like Amazon and eBay. Are his prices higher
One of my all time favorite diners. Always busy but it moves pretty quickly. The staff are really friendly. The food is so delicious. I highly recommend getting a bagel seared on the grill. The corned beef hash is really good. Quite peppery and great
