Winthrop Arms Hotel & Restaurant - Hotel in Winthrop - 130 Grovers Ave, USA

We stayed here last minute after a day gone wrong of traveling. American Airlines screwed up our flight from LAX to Charlotte NC, so we missed our connecting flight to Albany, which was an hour from where we were supposed to be staying. Since all other flight from Charlotte to Albany were booked, I decided the next best option was to fly into Boston and then drive the 3 hours the next day to our original place of stay. I quickly looked for places to stay on the plan into Boston, and found the Winthrop Arms Hotel. Trying to make the best of a nightmare travel situation, I wanted to pick a place that seemed like it had a lot of character in a cool location. I had never been to Boston before, so staying at a chain hotel felt like a waste. And I was right! This place was a perfect and unique location that easily took our minds off of the stress we were currently experiencing from our travel situation. The room was very cool, and I could tell it had a lot of history behind it. We had a great view of the ocean. Although we came in late at night, the bar stayed open for us for a while to let us decompress. Bartender and workers were super nice, had a great time talking to them about the property and surrounding areas. I just wish we could have stayed longer under less stressful circumstances, so if I'm ever in Boston again, I'm coming back to stay here!

Even if you don’t stay at this hotel I would HIGHLY recommend ordering out. My husband and I got the stuffed mushrooms, calamari, baked stuffed shrimps, and shrimp and scallops scampi. The portions were huge. We had to save some for lunch the next day. Honestly such a great place

This place was AWESOME! Room had a amazing view of the Ocean, great location, easy parking, 1 min walk to the beach, the food is up there to! had dinner there twice and enjoyed the food both times, resturant does get a bit busy but it's huge so plenty of space for a ton of guest. No elevator so be prepared to walk up stairs to get into hotel/resturant then more stairs to get into your room.

Went for early dinner and had a very good experience. Not a first timer and is usually a good bet. The Mac & cheese with roasted chicken special was very good. My partner had chicken Limone and as always, very tasty.

Je suis déçue... c'était pourtant l'hôtel que j'attendais le plus pendant mon road trip ! Mauvais accueil, chambres vieillottes mais cuisine au restaurant excellente ! Positif : - Le restaurant est excellent ! - Bel emplacement dans un quartier résidentiel chic, à deux pas de l'océan - Belle salle de bain Négatif : - Accueil déplorable ! Le jeune homme qui faisait le valet à l'extérieur ne faisait aucun effort pour se faire comprendre (je maîtrise quand même un peu l'anglais mais là impossible, et quand je lui demandait de répéter c'est presque s'il parlait encore plus vite), nous sommes donc restez garés devant l'hôtel (c'est pas plus mal mais bon...). Ensuite la jeune fille blonde à l'accueil nous remet la clé, nous entrons dans la chambre et au moment de redescendre nous n'arrivons pas à refermer la porte de notre chambre. Je descend donc lui expliquer, elle ne comprend pas (même si j'ai un accent français, ma phrase était pourtant claire). Comme elle ne comprend pas même en lui disant 3 fois, elle va chercher une autre collègue, elle non plus ne comprend pas et va chercher sa collègue qui parle espagnol (sauf que je n'ai jamais dit que je parlais espagnol...). Par contre elle fait l'effort de comprendre et m'accompagne pour me montrer comment fonctionne la porte (merci à elle). Le système de la porte n'est pas très ergonomique, première fois que je vois ça alors que j'ai fait pas mal d'hôtel dans le monde entier... Ah oui, ce qui m'a le plus vexée c'est lorsque je montais avec la dame, j'ai écouté ses deux collègues qui ne comprenaient pas ce que je leur disait ricaner en se moquant de moi (dommage pour vous je ne parle peut-être pas assez bien l'anglais mais je le comprend). C'est très peu professionnel mesdames de se moquer des clients. Et alors pour finir, nous voulions partit à 9h de l'hôtel, personne à l'accueil pour faire le check-out !!! Nous avons donc dû laisser les clés sur le comptoir avec la porte de l'hôtel ouverte donc n'importe qui pouvait la récupérer ! Et cela veut donc dire que si nous avons un problème dans la nuit il n'y a personne à l'accueil ?! Je n'ai jamais vu ça de ma vie ! - Chambre vieillotte - Lits pas du tout confortables, on a la tête à l'envers ! - La climatisation fait un bruit d'enfer, nous avons dû la couper et dormir avec la fenêtre ouverte alors qu'il y avait de l'orage... - Chambre vendu comme "vue sur océan", on passera sur la vue... Entre deux grosses maisons, je n'appelle pas ça vue océan ! - Pas de petit déjeuner proposé, et comme il n'y avait personne à l'accueil le matin il n'y avait donc personne au restaurant non plus alors que nous avions prévu de petit déjeuner sur place. Tant pis nous sommes allés quelques mètres plus loin, c'était moins chers en plus ! Franchement à presque 300€ la nuit, passez votre chemin ! À ce niveau de service c'est du vol pur et dur !!!

Love this place. My 3 sisters in laws and myself had lunch this past Sunday! Turkey dinner, chicken pot pie and the grilled chicken and veggies- all three meals were delicious. The waitress was fabulous.

David Goll and his team are amazing!! Thank you for your hospitality and kindness. We traveled from Orlando to attend an event hosted at your establishment on 11/18. My suitcase was lost by our airline upon our arrival on 11/17. Needless to say you guys were so kind and sympathetic to my situation. Thank you David, and to everyone on your team. Your kind gestures and helpfulness were greatly appreciated by 2 tired and weary travelers. We stayed in the King Suite #309. The room was super comfortable, spacious and clean. The food at the Winthrop Arms restaurant is incredibly delicious!! Kudos to you and your team for providing outstanding service and impeccably delightful meals. The next time we are in the Boston area you will be our first choice for accommodations and cuisine. The good- the bed was comfortable, water pressure nice, view of the water amazing, and parking. ||The not so good- dirty carpets, broken mismatched furniture, no shampoo/soap (but 3 conditioners), safety concerns- no deadbolt or peephole and someone tried to enter our room while we were getting ready the morning of departure. Also- skip the restaurant- over priced and the staff was not welcoming.
