Winterville Mounds Museum - Museum in Greenville - 1145 Indian Rd, USA

Even though the museum part of the mounds is closed due to renovations, the grounds are open and free to walk around and see the amazing mounds.

Lovely mounds that are impressive on approach driving up. The little museum on site is currently being renovated and thus closed but the site is still worth the 15 or so minutes north of the bridge across the Mississippi if you are interested in native mounds. Supposedly mound A is one of the largest mounds (55ft) in the United States and the 11 mounds albeit a fraction of the original 23 shows the significance of the civilization to the area, generally considered a regional power Definitely limited things to do here but a nice road stop to stretch the legs and see some history.

I've always loved going to the Indian Mounds, that's what we called it, growing up. We visited it at least twice a month either from school or with my family. Now we, the TSF make time to meet at the Moundd and hang out.

So much history in this place. I am writing a paper about how to make this place more lovely and marketable to potential tourists. Hopefully, it soon gets the attention it truly deserves.

This was a really neat stop while I was traveling. The staff were very friendly, the grounds and facilities were clean, and the exhibit was interesting.

Mounds were a cool experience to see. Only down fall was the museum wasn't open.

Quiet place for a quick stop to reflect on the past and those who came before.

This is an important Mississippian site. If you visit, spend the time to learn the site plan and walk the entire grounds, not just the main causeway. A couple of mounds are fenced off for upkeep. I assume erosion prevention and archaeological field work is going on back there. The museum is closed currently.
