Wingate by Wyndham Detroit Metro Airport - Hotel in Romulus - 9501 Middlebelt Rd, USA

Excellent location if you're traveling from DTW. Parking onsite and the shuttle was excellent. We asked for a wake up call and didn't receive it. Thank goodness we set our phones. Customer service at the front desk was great! We will return.

Our flight was cancelled so the airline provided us a hotel voucher with 3 Wyndham properties to choose from. Seeing Wingate was the most expensive of the 3, we chose this one.||Call to front desk from airport shuttle parking led to pickup by their van, contracted with "Valet Connections," which is the name on the white Sprinter Van that picks you up (not the hotel name).||Front desk very friendly and efficient. Assigned a basic room, 240, with 2 beds. Room was musty and felt very outdated with a portion of the carpet (in the far corner) that had not been vacuumed in some time. Room did have a small tv (very poor reception), microwave, mini fridge, in-room safe, and single cup, tray style coffeemaker (bland taste) with 2 Styrofoam cups. Beds not comfortable, especially the lumpiest pillows I've seen in years. Hysterically there is a sign in the room showing a price list of what you will be charged if you remove any item (e.g. $25 for a pillow).||A/C worked well, windows open to the outside, good water pressure. Bathroom toiletries were simply a 2 bars of soap and 2 little packets of combo shampoo/conditioner.||Self service breakfast was very basic. (McDonald's and Checkers are a short walk to the right.) Two choices of cereal, a half full gallon bottle of milk in refrigerator, cold sausage patties individually wrapped for you to microwave. Several choices of breads and yogurts. Spoons were gone by the time we got there. Juice was NOT watered down (unlike nearby Hampton Inn) hooray! ||A basic stay except for the super nice, helpful desk clerks.

Rooms were clean. But holy this hotels service is incompetent - particularly the shuttle. We’re talking waiting for HOURS to get picked up from the airport. Poor communication from the front desk for pickup, with bad clarity and just not being good at getting stuff done. the shuttle is supposed to leave at 530am, and 6am. The shuttle will just randomly decide to leave at 5:20am for no good reason. And leave you stranded.

Due to delayed flights, we actually arrived at 3AM on the 19th, exhausted. The woman working that night was helpful, warm, direct, and welcoming. Since we had gotten in so late, we were hoping for an extra hour of grace for a check out time, and she was wonderful about that. She said: "Don't worry Mr Way, I got your back." Everything about her and her ability to meet the customer's needs spelled "Hospitality". She is the kind of person I would hope to meet at every place I do business. God bless her!||||We stayed at the same place a few days later because they were fantastic.

The airport is pretty loud when the planes come in and out. There is a train nearby that blows its whistle at all hours of the night. The shower had soap in the drain from whoever was here before us, the trash can had food from the previous person as well. There was also trash stuffed in the ice bin from the previous person. The ceiling has a large crack in it, and 5 out of the 6 pillows were extremely lumpy. All in all, if it wasn't for the location being so close to the airport and being able to park in the lot while we were on our trip, I'd say this place should be avoided.

Got stranded by Delta and only this hotel had rooms. Absolutely filthy, faucet falling off, no amenities, hallway smelled like urine and weed. The "breakfast" was inedible. But the worst thing was that my husband and I woke up with flea bites all over our feet and ankles. We absolutely would have been better and safer and more comfortable on the floor of the airport.

Shuttle service is the worst! They are always late and the driver is rude, also when I was returning from my trip he took us to drop passengers to another destination in a dirty road, when the hotel was only few miles from the airport, apparently it is not a dedicate shuttle service, on top of that when he was dropping the first passengers he was throwing the baggage and he broke the handle of mine, when finally he took us to the hotel I made a claim in the front desk, I was told that the manager Bonnie will contact me later, and that never happened! I liked the hotel because it is close to the airport, but definitely I’m not planning to stay there anymore, I don’t recommend it at all!

The rooms were decent however you can tell the hotel needs general updating. The carpet is old and stained, things are broken and overall feels dirty and out dated. The park and fly feature was a bonus as we then used the shuttle to get back and forth to the hotel. The cost was much for reasonable then paying to park at the airport. Overall it did the job of allowing us a place to sleep. There were some very friendly and helpful staff which made it more pleasant
