The hotel is in a convenient location, and felt to be in safe surroundings. The hotel had the feel of being updated piece by piece. The owners clearly are working towards making this place a high quality stay. Currently (Aug 2024), the place is a bit dingy and dated. Nothing terrible, and quite likely above the standards of other hotels in the same category. The room is comfortable. The bedding was clean, as was the restroom. The floors appear to also be newer, but could use some regular cleaning. The only other point to mention is that you can hear people in the hall and doors closing. It wasn't too loud or anything, but feel it's worth noting for those seeking utmost peace and quiet/privacy. I do recommend this hotel as it is a good quality for the cost.

Soft, clean, supportive king bed, quality pillows, towels and products made this room more comfortable. Like new floors and updates in the room was fabulous. |Kim, our very kind, professional specialist at the hotel was excellent. She was so helpful and informative. Better than expected. There was no problems with the spacious room.|Breakfast on check out morning had run out of some hot foods while we were there. There was just fruit for gluten and dairy free choices. No gluten free safe bakery products. Coffee was okay. It was great there were flavored creamers for coffee. I brought my own dairy free creamer and almond milk for my coffee. Construction was going on while checking out. It was loud but was quiet during sleeping. I'd bring a draft roll to place along the bottom of your door to room.

Overall, it's pretty good.||Good price compared to most of the others. Rooms seem to have been renovated within the past year. Currently updated the lobby area. The room was clean and organized. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Bath towels were very soft. Shampoo and soap dispenser mounted on the tub wall. The bathroom sink was in the room and separated from the tub and toilet. It was very compact and close-quartered, but the exhaust fan ran very well. Water pressure and water temperature were very good. The room was well lit, good-sized TV, and the AC/heater unit was not loud. The staff we encountered were very polite.||The hotel exterior is in need of a touch-up, and so could the parking lot, but what counts is what is in the building. Breakfast options were kind of limited. There is an indoor pool, too.||Honestly, the worst thing was trying to locate the hotel from the road. The sign at the intersection is at ground level and might only be 2x3 feet in size with just the Wingate logo on it. The hotel is located on the left-hand side opposite of Lowe's.

Cami, at the front desk, was a joy. Excellent customer service, a friendly smile, and she was excellent while under pressure. All the staff was friendly and cared about their customers. A workout room and the pool always pleases me. A large refrigerator and comfortable beds. Breakfast had a large selection of food. I would absolutely stay here again

Other than the fact that they raised the price by $30/night because the Elk Expo was 30 minutes away (this event is why we were in the area,) we had a nice clean friendly quiet motel. The staff we interacted with were polite, friendly, and helpful. The room was clean and since we were on the far end of the hall, it was nice and quiet. The room size was adequate and there was plenty of space to put suitcases without having to have anything on the floor. Clearfield is on the outer edge of "elk territory" and we will most likely stay here again if we come back to the area -- but if there is a special even going on anywhere near, the price per night will be higher. That is disappointing.

Good sized room, well maintained - even the mechanical sink plug worked properly and kept the water. Close to the highway. The room was clean and the mattress was comfortable. A few cracks on the shower tiles and not a very good repair job on the shower ceiling were the only downsides.

I was not going to post this review, but in light of recent events I wanted the public to know a few things. My wife and I have stayed at this location numerous times over the years before the new ownership. We enjoyed the stay and the location, but last month we were in for a 5 day stay. No one came to clean our room after the first day, and we then noticed a sign telling us they clean every 3 days. Oh OK, no biggie. So on day 4 we need supplies, towels, toilet paper, you get the idea. If you have ever stayed there, there is another sign on the back of the door starting that they are required by law to enter every 3 days, so by day 4 with no one coming in we took it in stride and called the front desk and asked if we could have towels and toilet paper etc. The employee at the front desk was very apologetic and offered to bring the items up. I told her no, it was OK, I would come down in a few and save her the trip. I went down to get the supplies and there was another woman at the desk in the customer side. I was greeted by the lady at the front desk and given my supplies. I turned to go upstairs and the other woman chimes in, oh your the room that didn't get cleaned, I turned and said yes, we've been here 4 days and no one has been in. She replied that it read my fault, that they don't enter if there is a do not disturb sign on the door. I explained we did have a sign on the door for 30 minutes the previous day as we came back from meeting friends and were cleaning up and changing, then we left for the day, approximately 10:30 am. She then proceeded to berate me and blame me. I stopped and asked to just speak to the manager please. She replied, very smugly, that she was the manager. I proceeded to tell her she was rude and this behavior was uncalled for as I only came down for the supplies, I wasn't complaining or asking for anything special, I wanted a shower. She kept going and blaming me for the room not being entered, I pointed out that there was a sign that they were legally required to enter every 3 days, and no one has. She got an even larger attitude, and insisted it was our fault the room wasn't cleaned. I tried telling her we didn't realize that 30 minutes negated the whole clean your room scenario. I started to get angry, but tried to keep my cool, I said I'm not here to complain or create an issue, we didn't even complain that the door lock keeps sticking and we have to keep using the key card repeatedly, she rolled her eyes and told me I was lying. I said no it isn't working right, we had to keep putting our key in and out and wiggling the handle, she then blamed me for breaking it saying that is what would break the handle, but there's nothing wrong with it. I finally lost my composure and slapped the counter and said than you go up and look. She then ran into the back to get on the phone, I asked for the general managers card, when I looked at it, it turns out she is the wife of the general manager as his last name is the same as her name on the wall board of the manager on duty. She came out and starting barking orders at me and ordered me to leave the hotel, I said I wasn't leaving unless I was refunded the last of my stay. She refused because I had stayed in HER hotel and she was keeping my money. I reiterated that it was only the last night I was requesting. She then became more smug and threatened to call the police and have me removed. I again told her I was not leaving until I had my refund, she threatened again to call and I realized it was better if she did so I could have the officer verify we have done nothing to the room, just in case she wanted to charge my card on file, I'm sorry to say, but her behavior indicates that might be a possibility. So I sat down and waited for the police, contacted the customer service for Wyndham, they called her where she stepped into the back office but was still audible in the waiting area. I listened to her blatantly lying to them as I'm on hold with them. They come back and inform me she does have the right to ask me to leave, they inform me that the location is privately owned and the owner is who she answers to after her husband. But no one would give me the owners name. I got a report number, and sat down to wait. When the officer showed up I identified myself, gave him my ID and he talked to both of us, while he was talking to her I spoke with some of the employees. I recommend doing so yourself if you doubt anything I've said, she is not well liked was referred to as extremely rude and always has the need to be right and in control. The officer then returned and I was told we had to leave, they had no reason to charge me but she wanted me to leave, so I asked him to accompany me. The manager stopped me and said they were working on my refund. The officer, officer Lamb, went with me upstairs and I showed him the door lock wasn't working properly, had him enter the room where my wife was and had repacked for us, I showed him the room was just in need of a cleaning, and no damage, no theft, I then showed him the sign saying they are legally required to enter every 3 days. We went back downstairs and the manager said I booked through booking.com and she had called them to get my refund, I verified 2 more times that I did not need to call and she had called, so that it was on camera and so the officer heard it. And then we left. A month later booking.com never received a call, the hotel is denying the refund and that's why I finally decided to write this post, The general manager Paul's wife is a horrible person, rude and extremely unprofessional. This makes the hotel a very bad place to stay. Go up the road 1000 ft further and stay at the Holiday Inn express, I stayed there just last week and they are fantastic! Trust me, if you have an issue, you'll be blamed for their failure at the wingate.
