Wing Luke Museum - Museum in Seattle - 719 S King St, USA

Went in for the Nobody Lives Here exhibit and joined a tour of the old hotel and shop adjacent. Our guide was excellent and did a good job engaging a quiet group and providing some interesting information. The tour felt immersive and is a must for those interested in Washington and Seattle history. The rest of the museum has some really great art and historical pieces showcasing the vast and diverse Asian American experience. My one piece of feedback on the Nobody Lives Here exhibit is that it was a little text heavy, which was hard to take in fully. I really liked the before and after shots of different areas around Seattle showing 'progress' at the expense of marginalized communities and would have loved to see more.

Came here for the Bruce Lee Exhibit, left with a good sense of how Seattle's Asian-American community have come together throughout all the challenges of racism, and how they uniquely dealt with it. Unlike other communities, with higher Chinese populations like San Francisco, LA, or New York, all Asian-Americans came together here. It's really interesting! Some things to highlight: When talking about music and pop, I thought Wing Luke Museum did a better job of highlighting local indie groups than the Museum of Pop did. Also, compared to San Fran's Bruce Lee exhibit, which really didn't say much that you didn't already know, and really featured a lot of items that were imported from Los Angeles, Seattle's Bruce Lee exhibit was much more personable, featuring Bruce's notes written in Chinese. I sent a picture to my friend, and she said his Chinese writing was actually very beautiful. There are lots of hand-notes Bruce wrote in English, but it's much rare to find his notes written in Chinese. And of course, I HIGHLY recommend taking the tours that bring you into the Kong Yick building. It really helps put everything in the exhibit into a much fuller context. The guides are wonderful & knowledgeable!

Seems like a nice place but it was incredibly underwhelming and forgettable. Some exhibits were decent but a lot of them just felt random and were included being it has something to do with Asia. The building itself had a really cool staircase which is totally instagram worthy. There was also a room for children that can be interacted with (like there were some books and a giant mad libs) Included with your admission is tour of a grocery store and hotel? next door which was pretty cool. They offer the tours at multiple times during the day and our tour guide did a fantastic job. If you want to see the old lion head you must go on this tour to see it. Also, if they somehow get your email, be prepared to be receive emails months after you attend to take their survey.

We very much enjoyed our trip to the Wing Luke today! The space is beautiful and the exhibits are thoughtful. Overall, our visit was enhanced by the great tour of the historically preserved store and hotel spaces. Would recommend for first time visitors as an introduction to the CID and its history. And to cap it off they have the best museum gift shop!

Big fan of the gift shop. It lives up to the information on the site "Our Marketplace is more than a gift shop and bookstore, our store sources from over 100 small businesses as part of our commitment to being a community-based organization. " Gift shop is at the entrance of the museum so if you don't have time, you can visit here only. Best place for Seattle souvenirs, support local and things that represent Seattle values. This is a hidden gem ! From cute stickers to pins to chocolate to books to postcards.

Very deep, very intricate museum blending art and history. It was an immersive experience to be in a historic building, surrounded by modern art and also historical exhibits. We saw the Guma' Gela' exhibit featuring costume design from the Mariana islands. We also saw the rotating temporary exhibit about the resistance in the Japanese internment camps. Amazing, emotional experience and so impactful. Many rooms to explore

TLDR: 3 floors with lots of stories from all different types of Asian American cultures! This was a great place to read about the experiences of not just Chinese Americans, but Japanese and Korean, Guam and Filipino, and more! It spanned three floors and had different exhibits for kids, recreations, and exhibits. Very friendly service and awesome exhibits, come Check it out!

What an amazing museum. It was great to learn so much about the various Asian communities in Seattle. The history was very interesting and there was a docent that took us on the tour was so knowledgeable. Allow 1-3 hours depending on how much you want to read and if you take the tour.
