We have been here several times and we always enjoy it. There are great trails and it's loaded with history of course. This trip was for their Luminary Tour. The battlefield is lit up with lanterns that represent the wounded and the fallen. There are testimonials given by both the Union and the Confederate at all 3 stops. Very well done.
Admittance was FREE❤️ A+ Museum and grounds become very sacred to you, when you realise the life loss there and the significance of the battle being fought. We went to go back to see the film (some reason was not showing). We appreciated things being very handicap friendly, even the Ray House had a paved walk all the way to it.
Visited on our way to Branson and since we didn't get to see everything after three hours, we drove back for a second day of visiting. So much to see despite the battle only lasting six hours. The electric map of the battle was very informative since we didn't watch the 28 minute video. Staff in the visitor center are very helpful in answering any questions that we had. The Ray house was a great stop on the tour with the volunteer guide telling us the history of the Ray family and what they experienced on that day. Appreciated seeing pictures of how the grounds look that day. A definite visit if you love America history!
If you like history, I highly recommend coming here. It looks like there used to be a charge, but now there's not. There are some great trails to walk on, and some great history to see and read about. We happened to go on a day they were doing cannon demonstrations. That was really awesome. The museum is also fantastic.
It's simply amazing and well done. The visitors center was redone and so much to see. You start with a movie and then look at the displays. Guns and artifacts are everywhere. An interactive battlefield was a highlight. You have a film of a person shotting the guns from the day to see the differences. You could spend at least 4 hours reading and looking around. The staff is very helpful. Then you go to the battlefield and see history in front of you. It's very easy to see. Volunteers at the house with lots of information. Very well done.
What a wonderful place to learn about a terrible part of American history. The museum was incredible. A true must see for anyone traveling to the Springfield, Missouri area. Whether you walk the trails or drive through it is a great place for all. They gave my 11 year old nephew a bunch of badges for filling out a pamphlet/booklet that they provide. It is a very interactive place for kids as well as adults.
A really nice National Park. A lot of history and information to take in along with beautiful views and bountiful wildlife. Plenty of nicely maintained walking trails to different exhibits. A great place to bring the family for the day with an opportunity to learn a little American history in the local area. Dogs are welcome on the trails, rules say they mist be leashed.

Love this park! Well kept, trails are well marked for the most part. It does make me said that they put in an electric field...idk what that means for the local mudrunð

We ordered a whole Italian Cream Cake yesterday for my mom's anniversary. Everyone loved it and the price was very reasonable! Of course the pizza is always good and I tried the meat lovers gyro last week and it was excellent as well.
Tanner at flat Creek was awesome. Super personable and took care of us on our first visit. The only downside was that he didn't warn us about the portion sizes being so large so I found myself ordering based on other food locations that are skimpy. W
