Beautiful hike for all seasons. Winter path is pretty packed down but YakTrax are helpful. Saw lots of animal footprints, but didn't see any animals, even in the early morning.
Awesome area to hike year-round! During fresh snow wear snowshoes. If trail is pack wear or take yak traks. Summer is fantastic! A great meadow is about 2.5 miles in.
Highly recommend this trail for a great view! My family & I were able to hike it without any issues, my youngest is 7 and did just fine. The only negative is that parking is limited by the trail.
This trailhead is a great spot for the beginning of several trails. I gave it only 3 stars due to the lack of parking spaces and lack of either a rest room or water. This is a very popular hiking area. The parking lot holds only a dozen cars and the overflow parking is a mile away. No restroom means that after several hours of hiking, there's a lot of peeing in the bushes. With the number of million dollar homes in the area, you'd think the city could afford a few improvements. BUT... the Willow Creek Falls hike is great. It's 7.1 miles round trip. A moderate level with only one steep, rocky stretch. Highly recommend this hike.
This was a fairly easy hike, beautiful and serene. However, I thought it was a loop, but it turned out to be an out and back. Worth it!
One of the best hikes around! Beautiful scenery, smells, and sounds are spectacular. Not too tough of a hike. Parking is the only problem but totally worth the effort!
Parking situation is poor so go at non peak times or resolve to use the overflow parking which is quite a ways away from trailhead. We hiked to the falls which was pleasant albeit moderately strenuous mostly because of altitude especially near the beginning and end of hike. Forested, lots of water flowing everywhere, wild flowers, meadows, I am assuming wildlife although we only saw some raptors. Starts around 8600 ft and ends almost exactly at 10k.
We'll marked trail that ultimately ends up at the Salmon & Willow Lakes. Extremely unique rock formations near Red Peak and definitely bring your fly rod. There are a handful of campsites near the upper lakes.
