Wildhorse Golf Club - Featured Reviews (329)
We read the reviews and thought it would be a good course but was disappointing. Then when we played two days later at another course with two people that live in Vegas they wouldn't play there. There was no bag drop but signs everywhere to not leave your clubs alone as possible theft. The pro shop and starter were good, the course was fine but nothing exciting. Also, there was no water anywhere on the course which was not helpful since it was 100! We also couldn't get any food as the restaurant was too busy so wouldn't answer the phone when we called to pre order to pick up between 9 & 10 and the snack shop was closed. Just wasn't conducive for a pleasant round during our vacation.
For those who might not know, Wildhorse Golf Club in Henderson has a rather extensive history. One of the oldest courses in the Vegas valley, dating back to 1958, Wildhorse has carried many names. Paradise Valley, The Showboat Country Club, Indian Wells, and Royal Kenfield. It was a regular PGA Tour stop hosting the Sahara Invitational and has the legend Jack Nicklaus as an event winner. Sadly the glory days of Wildhorse are behind them. Once the City of Henderson purchased the property, unfortunately, the budget to maintain the course at a high-end facility was scrapped. That in no way means you should take a pass. The head greenskeeper, Darden Nicks, is doing wonders with a third of the budget than most of the courses in the valley. We played “The Horse” yesterday, 9/11/2022, and it was the greenest I’ve seen the course in a long time. Surprisingly the bunkers were outstanding as well. From tee to green, the course is in really good shape. The greens right now are the course's only downside. The course has a fun layout and some demanding holes like the 254-yard par 3 15th and the 595-yard par 5 16th. Small greens, blind doglegs, crafty water hazards, and tight fairways make The Horse a challenge for any golfers! We hosted Darden Nicks on episode 117 of the podcast. It’s worth a listen. Our recent 2022 Vegas Rankings episode had Wildhorse coming in at 28 out of 49. That’s episode 181.
4.5 of 5 stars! Nice service! A challenging course! A fun time had with my randoms. I felt like a valued guest. Not over priced!! Good help to get a cab from the course back to the strip! Thanks! (Nice rental clubs too and not over priced like at Painted Desert!!) Wished I could click 4.5 of 5 stars and not just 4 stars, sorry!
Updated review: The greens have gotten much better. For a desert golf course, the staff does a good job overall in maintaining the grounds. Seeing all of the wildlife is a plus in playing here. The course is very good for the price.
Front nine isn't so hard but back nine was. Also I could not give a five star rate because of disc golfers. They are everywhere in the middle of fairway and pretty much loud. Grass condition was so so. Greens are comparably small so you would need an accurate approach shot.
My experience at this golf course is out of this world. The golf course is always in excellent condition. The holes are diverse yet challenging yet fair I love playing this golf course. The staff is amazing. If you are a local or if you are a tourist visiting Las Vegas I highly recommend this track. Bravo Wildhorse GC.
Oh boy, where do I start with Wildhorse Golf Course? Well, first off, let me just say that my clubs have seen some courses in their day, but they unanimously voted this as one of their all time favorite tracks (yes, my golf clubs are sentient...don't ask). Wildhorse Golf Course is the Las Vegas of golf courses...minus the casinos, late-night partying, and regretful wedding chapels. What it does have, however, is sheer, unadulterated golfing joy. Think Disneyland for golfers, only instead of Mickey Mouse you get manicured fairways and instead of Cinderella's castle you get... well, more manicured fairways. The greens are so smooth I was half tempted to pull out a yoga mat and strike a pose. The bunkers are surprisingly welcoming too, almost like they're saying, "Come on in, the sand is just fine!". And the fairways, oh, those fairways. They're so nice I felt guilty for divoting them, like I was scarring a piece of beautiful artwork. But don't worry, I was promptly assured that they heal faster than Wolverine. Let's not forget about the stunning views. Honestly, I felt like I was playing golf in a postcard. I half expected a giant hand to come out of the sky and move me around like a chess piece. The staff deserves a standing ovation as well. They were so attentive I started to suspect they were trained at Hogwarts. They anticipated my needs before I even knew them myself. "Hungry" BAM! Here's a pork missile aka a hot dog at the turn. "thirsty?" WHOOSH! Let's grab a beer and maybe take a few with us for the back 9. In short, Wildhorse Golf Course is the golfing equivalent of finding a golden ticket in your Willy Wonka chocolate bar. If you're a golf aficionado or even someone who just fancies a good walk spoiled, do yourself a favor and check it out. I promise you, the only regret you'll have is not finding this gem sooner. Just remember, what happens at Wildhorse, stays at Wildhorse... unless you get a hole-in-one. Then that's definitely going on Instagram.
I've always enjoyed Wildhorse. The combination of history and a great layout has always been attractive to me. But operations at Wildhorse have been much improved over the last couple years. The Pro Shop has a wonderful variety of hats, shirts, shoes, and equipment at reasonable prices. And the golf course conditions just keep getting better... In the past it wasn't unusual for the fairways to have a number of bare areas and the greens to be bumpy and less than ideal. But there have been major changes in how the crew maintains the course. Now the fairways are very playable and the greens and always smooth and true. In addition to the above, Wildhorse has a top-notch practice area. It's one of the few courses with a full grass hitting area at the driving range, a full short-game practice area, and a huge practice putting green that plays the same as the greens on the course do. All this and the rates are as reasonable as any course in the Valley. Wildhorse is a great course at a great price and the staff is always willing to bend over backwards for the customers.
