I love that trail. Best hikes are in the spring when it’s lushly green. Has nicer views the more you get up. You won’t encounter too many people on that trail.

Wonderful hiking and biking place. You're either going up or down most of the time.

A very nice and peaceful trail. Good for kids and dogs. It's a moderate hike with plenty of shade. It features a waterfall in Spring Season and after good rain storms. Waterfall dries up in Summer. Big parking lot and do not provide bathrooms. Packing in and pack out. Scoop after your dog.

It is AMAZING and breathtaking! The trail we do is, "The Beast." Passing the gate you'll eventually make it to, "Wilson Saddle Picnic Area." Please be considerate and respectful to the trail! Carry your trash back with you and watch out for mother nature's creations ❤️‍🔥

If you’re looking for the Whitney Canyon waterfalls: I’ll try to be as detailed as possible since there’s not good info or signage on this hike. We started at Whitney Canyon park, there is a paved and a dirt parking lot. To the right of the wooden bulletin board is a gate and then a dirt road. Go to the dirt road on the right just past the gate. If you go straight it’s private property (there are signs). This is the road you want to start down. It will follow a little stream (on your left) for about a mile. The stream will be very faint, but after a mile the dirt road will turn into a proper hiking trail. At this point the stream should be flowing more. If it’s not, then you may want to turn around because it means the waterfall will not be great. You’ll then cross the stream back and forth for almost another mile. You’ll get your feet wet, make sure to wear waterproof hiking shoes with good tread, the rocks will be VERY slippery. The stream will get bigger and faster, and then you’ll see the first of the falls. There are about 5 consecutive falls that get bigger. If you want to see all of them, you’ll have to do some rock scrambling. Be very careful here, it’s dangerous with the rocks being wet. The hike is mostly flat, lots of trees and shade, and it’s about 3.5 miles out and back. I wouldn’t say it’s good for children due to the rock scramble at the end. Same with dogs. Before the scramble it’s a nice flat trail that seems good to have the dogs running around, but be careful here with mountain lions. This is prime puma territory, so keep your dogs and children close.

PROS Wide enough for trail running and mountain biking and group hikes Good incline (I did about 2.5 miles and over 400ft Elevation gain) Different loop options to explore, the Creek Trail was lovely, but it's August 2021 and dry. Tons of parking Great views Plenty of free parking (no overnight parking sadly my precious Nomads) Emergency 911 codes if you need assistance on the trail - think it's my first time seeing that. Saw a bunny tonight CONS Bit open and sunny (Nice scattered clouds today, I bet a rainy day would be lovely) Go in the late afternoon or early morning in the summer so it's not too sunny and hot, the weather was perfect when I hiked from about 6:30-8pm 8.14.21 Traffic noise a bit at the beginning and end Electric static noise from the POWER LINES, which distract from feeling the nature vibes, but if you hike in about a mile or 2 it gets more into the mountain and less surrounded by them. Dry, no water flow right now.

Awesome little canyon for hiking and biking. Love the blue oaks along the path and the dry riverbed. The waterfalls at the end are a nice surprise.
