Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar - New American restaurant in Friendswood - 18840 Gulf Fwy, USA

My boyfriend and I really love Whiskey Cake, especially for brunch. We’ve come here a few times together now and always enjoy an old fashioned, especially the cold fashioned. Recently for brunch we got their cinnamon roll (out of this world!) which is only partially pictured because we dug right in. We also really enjoyed the hot hen chicken sandwich and chicken & cheese melt (the chicken is so tender and juicy-worth a try!) We’ve also had the chicken & waffles, 3 little pigs, and smoked tri tip dip which we’d order again. We are always met with amazing service that compliments the ambience perfectly. Oh, and don’t get me started on the mustard seed ketchup… hands down the best ketchup around. 10/10 must try if you’re in the area and DON’T SKIP THE WHISKEY CAKE!

This place rocks. I've frequented both the San Antonio and Webster (Houston) locations and have yet to be disappointed. Those on the foodie end of the dining spectrum will love the scratch style menu. Simple, unique, and well executed. Those on the atmosphere end of the spectrum will love the sophisticated hipster feel with modern touches to match the unique cities. And for us whiskey lovers, we must not rush this experience. I can't say enough good things about Whiskey Cake.

We went as a party of 8 to celebrate my daughter's 15th birthday. We made reservations ahead of time just in case but it was a Sunday afternoon and it was probably not needed. We were seated promptly and our drink orders were taken. I recommend the old fashioned because it was delicious. This is a prohibition style bar where they make all the drinks by hand so they do not serve frozen drinks. For the food I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and it was huge! 2 perfectly crispy, slightly spicy chicken breasts and the bread was soft and delicious. The highlight of the night for the whole table was the signature Whiskey Cake dessert. It's a sticky toffee cake with candied pecans and homemade whipped cream. Everyone was so full from the food and didn't think they were gonna eat much dessert, but both pieces were gone once everyone tasted them and couldn't stop eating! We will definitely be back since now my son wants to visit for his birthday.

Love this place! Lots of great stuff on the menu. The goat cheese fondue is yummy. I had the IPA mussels last night--delicious. I've had a lot of things on their menu over the years & all of it is good from chicken and waffles to the burger. And you must eat the whiskey cake!

First off, the food was good, plentiful, and they had options. BUT, with the exception of the people who brought our food, the service was like trash..and fake. And I'm a patient person. The place has a nice aesthetic, but it's almost nice for nothing. It wasn't swamped when we walked in, but we ended up waiting for awhile for someone to even get to the hostess table, then they tell us to wait even more once they get there. They didn't seem rushed, so we were a little confused on what the hold up was. They sit us, we get our drinks, food, and then time to pay. But they take forever to bring a our checks. The person who had them in her hand, passed us up as they went to take the order of another table, then proceeds to give us our checks to pay. Again, I'm usually a patient person, and we weren't all pressed for time, but as a first time visitor, I will definitely not be going back here. The Hot Hen was great though with some added avocado.

Ordered a $5 sweet tea, a $10 wild turkey 101 bourbon, and a $39 ribeye medium rare. I have been TABC certified in the past. The tea was ok but had an after taste. The whiskey was watered down, tasted like a 50/50 mix and the glass was half full. It took 45 minutes from the time ordered to the time the plate hit the table with a +/- 12 oz steak... the meat was well done (thumb to pinky), it was not medium rare as ordered (see pictires). Tried to give the benefit of a doubt thinking it was seared well but first thought after the first bite was "$39 for a burnt steak?!" Tried something different, and this was definitely a first and last time eating here kind of experience. Waiter was great, but the food was sub-par and not as ordered wasn't waiting another 45 minutes for a steak that should only take less than 5 minutes to make. I'll stick to what I know and go across 45 to Longhorn Steak House next time I want a steak cooked to order. Sorry Whiskey Cake but they get it right over there.

I had the best Restaurant experience as a newbie to whiskey cake. Unfortunately, I cannot remember my server and the managers name so it was either Brian or Gary. I may have them mixed up but blame that on the amazing drink that was recommended to me as I only had one and I could not wait to get back to my car to write this review so that tells you that it was great And effective 😂. The manager who I think maybe Brian was an absolute delight (and I apologize for not remembering his name)came to the table and let me know that he was happy to have us, made some recommendations to what to try on the menu since it was our first time being there and it really made me feel like a valued customer in the world of so many when I know that there’s a lot of people that walk Through their front doors and I know that he didn’t have to do that. My waiter was also amazing recommending food and making sure that when our glasses got low, they were refilled and just checking back in but not being too abrasive. It was simply amazing. The atmosphere is super dope. It’s definitely a vibe! The food was good. I had ribs and mac & cheese. My friend had a burger and fries, and she enjoyed it as well. I can’t rave about the menu as I only tried two things however, if you found that the menu was not to your liking, I promise that the drinks, the atmosphere, and the staff will definitely make any visit worthwhile, and if you leave enough room, the whiskey cake will make your body warm and it literally melts in your mouth!

Delicious food with a pretty presentation. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the quinoa salad surprised me with how good and fresh it tasted. Just wish the portion size was bigger. Nice ambiance and good service too
