Whipple creek regional park is a delightful place to visit either for a hike or a trail ride. If you do Hike, please remember to be mindful of the horses as riders trail through the park. The park is beautiful, and usually a few degrees cooler due to the cluster of trees and the stream. It's a good place for a picnic, or just a hike to clear your head. The paths are clearly marked, with multiple maps to direct you. Naturally, this park is out in nature, so expect bugs, expect uneven trails, expect to see some manure, and expect some up/down hill walking. The only concern I have with this park is the lack of care specifically dog owners have. Often, you'll see dog owners leaving poop bags behind or letting their dog off the leash, putting everyone in danger. I've seen dogs run up on the horses, which can cause incredibly dangerous situations. Please make sure you leash your pets.

Update (9/7/23): I had to go back here today and venture out further. I hiked many new awesome unspoiled trails of exceptional beauty, but still have more to go. With it starting to get dark sooner, I had to head back to the parking lot, even though I wanted to keep going. Like last time, I enjoyed every second of my time here. Here is my original review from June: Wow!! What fun I had hiking today! I had no idea that these beautiful hiking trails were so close! Being my first time here; completely unfamiliar with the territory, I kept it simple, and just did a 3 mile hike this time, but even with that, it felt like I was miles into a dense wooded forest! All I could hear was the wind rustling through the trees, and a creek flowing through a nearby ravine. The trails are very clean and extremely well maintained. They are horse and dog friendly as well. There is a map showing 'you are here' often, so you don't have to worry about getting lost as long as you stay on the actual trails. It was not crowded at all, considering it was a sunny Sunday afternoon, making for a peaceful and pleasant experience. I will add more photos as I continue to explore this park; I have a feeling it is breathtakingly beautiful year round with the change of seasons. I would highly recommend this park to anyone who has not been here. If being outdoors in nature is your thing, as it is for most Pacific Northwest folk, you'll love this place! Happy hiking, my fellow Washingtonians! 🌲

Whipple Creek is a beautifully maintained trail. It's conveniently located 5-10 minutes west of the I5, but is so secluded by hills and towering trees you wouldn't be able to tell! This trail is accessible to hikers, mountain bikers, leashed dogs, and hourse riders- watch out for poop on the trail. The trail is well maintained and features multiple bridges and an old mill that is now boarder up. The Creek on the backside if the trail is not directly off the trail except for one spot. But their are plenty unmarked and well-walked trails that lead down to it. The trail has many markers along the way so it is very easily maneuvered. You could spend quite a while here exploring all the different trails.

Great place to explore close to town. Not a lot of foot traffic during the week so it's perfect for the dogs. Definitely be prepared for mud during the rainy season.

It is so quiet and beautiful. You can hear the many different birds singing, see the chipmunks scurry across the path. There were others we crossed paths with but still felt we had the trails to ourselves. I love that there are horses allowed on these trails.

Thought it would be an easy hike. It was very pretty, steep-ish in some places, and probably not the safest thing for a single lady with her kid to do, but thankfully we made it out safe. Definitely plan a few hours for this, bring good shoes, and water/snacks if you go.

Fantastic scenery, very romantic. People with pets kinda suck (folks didn't clean up after their animals), but the trails were very quiet and peaceful. <3

We had the best afternoon. This park has so much shade and is right in the heart of Ridgefield. So great. They were having a block party and the Firemen were so nice and showed the kids their truck. Wish there were more picnic tables.

Really beautiful vineyard/winery in Northeast Ridgefield. One of the few real wineries around where they actually grow, make and bottle their own wines. Great tasting room with samplers, bottles or just glass fulls of many red and white varieties.
