They're truly are no words to describe the view. When you get to the top. I would highly recommend this hike to anyone! Parking can be somewhat limited at the Tellico Gap trail head. Just follow the Appalachian trail north and you will come right to the tower. There is also a side trail that you can take, it is much steeper though.
Beautiful firetower and one of my favorites in the area. It's pretty steep no matter which of the 2 trails you take. If you cut left at the beginning, the elevation is more spread out. Takes a little over an hour round-trip and a around 2 miles. You will be rewarded with some of the best views around.
Absolutely worth the hike to check this out. It's not too strenuous of a hike back to it at about 2 miles. The trail is easy to follow but there are a lot of exposed roots on so you do have to watch your steps. It doesn't get too steep until you're just about there and even then it's pretty manageable. The views were far better than clingman's dome in my opinion and far less crowded (and no traffic jams).
Wow, the views!!! The hike from Tellico Gap is 1.4 miles through a beautiful forest, and almost all uphill, but with switchbacks. Your hear twill still pump, but it's not difficult. We had the tower to ourselves for about 20 minutes before another group showed up. The tower platform is great, but the stairs are STEEP. But worth it! I look forward to coming back.
I was a little wary about climbing to the top but did it anyway. Glad I did. Stunning 360° view. Just take a breath and do it. Be careful! Great spot for a snack or lunch at the base.
Beautiful views from the top. We are new to hiking in our older years. In fact, this was our first time hiking a trail so long and so steep. But it was fun and satisfying. After two knee surgeries in the past year, I was glad to finally get back to some fun adventures, sweat included.
Short hike. Views are absolutely beautiful. Appalachian trail to the tower is easier than the little fire road
One of the best views I've found in this area. The loop trail is in pretty decent shape. Going up is a nice, rigorous hike that I did with my wife, my dog, and my three year old (granted he rode on my shoulders most if the way up and down). The hike down is smooth and goes rather quickly compared to the hike up. There are a few trees still across the path in a few places, but are easily navigated around.
I've been coming to this gym for about 7 months now and my gains have been incredible. Found a sport that I love and coach who knows his stuff. Highly recommend if you're even a little bit interested in powerlifting. Rick is professional and welcomin
Honey Wasabi. I've been eating sushi for 30+ years and I have NEVER had something so good. Our table got a good mix of Hibachi, Sushi, and Thai dishes. Everything was lovely. Will def be back every time we are in Franklin.
This is a Shopping Center in Franklin NC. There are some stores there especially the New Super Ingles Market with a Starbucks Coffee shop inside. Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Ingles Gas Station is there.
