Small yet clean rooms. Every other room has a carport. It's in a reasonably safe area of St. Louis. There are plenty of places to shop, eat, and visit for fun around. The rooms have tile floors and the bed linens looked just fine, so far as I know there's no bed bugs like the Chippewa Motel's infestation. The rooms have cable TV, a telephone, microwave, mini refrigerator, desk, air conditioner, and heat. The water gets more than hot enough for a shower. It's quiet and a small place, with only one story and no hallways or elevators to deal with. There's an ice machine in the office. There are cheaper ones in St. Louis, like the ones on North Grand Avenue (which is crackhead central). The price is $75 a night. The only thing missing I thought of was chain or deadbolt locks and "do not disturb" signs on the room door.
For as cheap as the nightly stay is, rooms are good. Clean. No bugs, just flies. Bed was comfy enough. Mini fridge out of order but otherwise no issues.
I was unaware I wasn't allowed to have my cat in this place. I had to leave to continue moving, I came back as I paid for 3 more night there, they locked me out. at first wasn't willing to let me in to retrieve my medicine, medical equipment, clothes, food & cat. I had to tell the lady I would have to call the police if she'd not let me in to get my belongings. After the 3rd time of telling her, she finally let me in. Very poor communication skills, poor ownership, room had a fridge with a huge block of ice In it ruining what food I had in there. No wifi. Just rude people. Not a good motel for what they charge. I do not recommend this motel at all.
Right off of Watson Road, up near the Walmart, (probably less than 3 miles from the Walmart) in a very convenient area with accessible roads all around it. Great location, & great rooms for the price! In terms of a good, quality cheap hotel room - I'd say that this is at the top of my list! The price isn't bad at all, and the room is worth it! Clean, quiet, & even has its own garage for each room!!! I had a good experience here, & the customer service was just okay; it wasn't horrible but it also wasn't 5 star service either. Then again what can you really expect for the price being what it is? Customer service wasn't bad at all. My fiance and I stayed here multiple times and always had a good experience when we did stay here.
I called earlier in the day to get rates was told $65 a night, I get there to check in and pay for the room and am told $95 it was late and had no other choice at this point. Let me start by saying not only do they wayyyyyy over charge but the room was dirty and smelled awful. Glad the person I got the room for hand their own blankets and things because the beds are not anything I wld sleep on they are not comfortable and they also stink. This lady was outside when I was unloading my car and she and I spoke for the same room I paid $95 for she was paying $75!! I got this room to help someone out with a place to stay for the weekend. I called this morning to speak to someone about the issue and they said different rates again. I wld never get a room here for myself or anyone again. They are run down, not clean, filthy and overpriced. It needs to be turned into a homeless shelter at this point. It was giving horror movie vibes with the looks of the room and the caution tape was an added bonus.
You cannot park a Uhaul truck, no space
Wayside Motel was apparently originally built in 1940 and, while it shows, it maintains a certain charm that you can't find at too many places. You won't get all the frills of a corporate chain here (no wi-fi, pool, or continental breakfast), but our room was clean and exceptionally quiet, our pillows mattress were new and comfortable, and the shower was roomy and had decent water pressure. You do need to take your own shampoo and hair dryer. (They do provide a small bar of soap, but we used our own there as well.) When we return, I will take my own towel too because they only provide small, scratchy hotel towels.||||I would recommend taking a power strip or extension cord because there is only one available outlet, and we needed more plug-ins than were available. If you need medical equipment while you sleep (CPAPs, etc), you will likely need a couple of extension cords. In our room, the only available plug in was on the opposite side of the room from the bed.||||The carports were a plus; They kept our car relatively cool despite the hot summer sun. It was nice to only be a few steps from the car when we were loading and unloading.||||The staff were very nice and pleasant. We had no problems calling in and making a reservation. In fact, one night, the no vacancy sign was up, so I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. ||||Ultimately, we were very pleased with this hotel, especially for the price. We will definitely return.
Vintage awesome but no wifi. Positives: Good water pressure in the shower, very comfortable and clean beds. AC is available in each room. Extra towels were provided when asked for and they were good sized. Good food near by. Drawbacks: No wifi, which was tough because we work online. Part of the rooms look like maybe they are weekly or longer rentals but nothing messy or dangerous. Rooms are very generic. Over priced for the amenities offered. $92 with tax. Wonderful, historic and lovely property that is begging to be restored. On historic 66 and photo worthy in some spots. Original buildings and layout. Appears family owned and operated, they have a amazing garden on the property. We always try to support local where ever travel and we are really glad to have tried this lovely vintage motor court out. Amazing original photos of the motel are up in the office. If your a route 66er too....give this spot a try.
