WaterWalk Kansas City - Overland Park - Extended stay hotel in Overland Park - 11250 Glenwood St, USA

We've stayed at this hotel a number of times over the past 7 years. We found it to be well maintained, conveniently located, clean, and staffed with helpful employees. We found the other guests to be considerate.||It is valuable to us to have a small kitchen for meal prep. The variety of kitchen equipment is smallish, but worked for us. All kitchen items were in excellent condition.||Loved having a full size W & D - as well as the the soap!||If I had one suggestion for the team, it would be: new sheets as the ones we had were a bit thin. The towels were great!||We will stay again.

First, to be honest purely service related reviews I find only minimally helpful depending on the context. If the room is nice, maybe I won't have the same issue. But this is a combination of security, service, and room issues. So reader weigh as you see fit. This was our second "stay", approximately a year apart. The first time we were met with a very rude employee, but the room was fine. On this second time, we went to the room and it had a foul smell. The employee admitted herself that a family who checked in earlier had to change rooms because of a similar issue. The employee gave us another room and when we went to the this second room, to our dismay we walked into an occupied room. Luckily we were able to quickly close the door, but not only did this put us in a dangerous situation, imagine having strangers walk into your apartment in the middle of the night and imagine if those strangers had bad intentions. At this point, we were not confident that any room would be secure. The very unconcerned employee alerted us that this could happen and tried to give us another room. Given the late hour and concerns with security and quality we left to find another hotel. She refused a refund and refused to reach out to the manager, stating only that the hotel room was non-refundable. We tried in vain to reach a manger named "Mickey" in the following weeks but never heard back. So we paid for a room that we never had. The occupants in the apartment probably don't even know they had a security breach. The employee informed us that the occupants had been in the apartment for months so that makes the breach all that more perplexing. Kansas City/Overland Park has plenty of other great options, including the Springhill Suites in Lea whose front desk person was simply a fresh of breath air. So if consistent quality, professional employees, basic level security is what you are looking for, look elsewhere.

This place rocks. I definitely recommend over a hotel. They did a really good job on the rooms and amenities. Super friendly staff as well. Carol should get promoted. She stayed up late to meet us for check in at 3am. Thank you guys for a great stay

They rooms were beautiful. Makes you feel at home when not. The coffee maker was a blessing. Comes with all the things you need to cook which was amazing. The beds were comfortable. The staff was amazing and kind. The floor to ceiling sound proof should be better because you can hear all their footsteps all night which was a pain. I also found a single roach in the kitchen. If they spray and keep up with that this place was amazing.

Very clean and quiet. The employees are great and helpful. Love that you can have your dog with you. It's the center of where all of our business was,very convenient.

Positive: The layout -- rooms had full kitchens Negative: The bathtubs had no grab bars or mats so very slippery. The dryer had long black hair in it so had not been wiped out.

WaterWalk is both a hotel and apartment complex, and they absolutely treat their apartment tenants like garbage. Apartment tenants have gated, assigned parking, which required a parking pass when the lease was signed, but this parking is now open to hotel guests due to them converting apartments into hotel rooms, leaving apartment tenants with nowhere to park. People have to park along the curbs in multiple places, resulting in a safety hazard if there was ever an emergency. Not to mention that the locks on the outer doors frequently have problems, with one of them never working (and has never been fixed), which also poses a safety hazard. Management never communicates with guests and never addresses maintenance issues (those specific to apartments and those general to the building). We had a leak in our ceiling that went unaddressed for months, even though we called about it relentlessly. We kept being told, "it just leaks when it rains! - which was 1) not true, as it always leaked, and 2) the stupidest thing you could ever say in response to a leaking ceiling in your apartment complex. It caused thousands of dollars in damage to our furniture before it was fixed and no one seemed to care. They also continue to raise rent when apartment tenants literally pay thousands in rent, and again, are treated like garbage. We have dealt with so many issues and no one at WaterWalk has ever seemed to care. At that point, why even run an apartment-hotel combo? If you are looking to live here, look somewhere else. And if you are looking to stay in the hotel, keep in mind how poorly they treat the people who pay to keep WaterWalk open.

The accommodations were nice and the property is very clean. The staff is excellent even though we had a hiccup where we were supposed to have a balcony and ended up with a one bedroom on the first floor. This problem was never resolved, but it did not ruin our stay and again the staff is some of the best we have had.
