A long-time favorite - the stunning river view will draw you in but make no mistake it’s the delicious seasonal menu and sensational service that will ensure you come back again and again. Make reservations. And no, you can’t be guaranteed a river view seat (inside or out), but you can request it. The food is interesting but not overly complicated. The atmosphere is a little elevated but also casual. The wait staff are attentive, friendly and experienced. A great spot anytime but also wonderful for special occasions. I love the Waterhouse! See you soon!
This place is great. Service was stellar! Food and drinks were great. Loved the lunch menu. It had something for everyone without overwhelming with too many options. Had the French dip and duck tacos. Both were fresh, moist, tender, and delicious. We will be back!
Dinner at the Waterhouse was amazing! I had scallops which were perfectly seared and seasoned. It was served over soba noodles and vegetables that were dressed in a light sauce that was so tasty,. My husband had a special, the honey glazed salmon. We both are all of our meals. We sat on the patio and had a great server, Ian. Ian was funny and friendly and took time to speak with us. We will definitely be back. I really want to try their flatbread pizza!
First time and I will be back! Lovely deck along the river, exquisite food and drinks. Will not disappoint. Returned since writing this review. The duck confit tacos are amazing. Back again on a beautiful October day on the deck. The duck confit tacos were so good had to have them again. For dessert, the Strawberry Cloud. Look how gorgeous the torched meringue looks. I left contented.
My husband and I traveled to Peterborough for an anniversary dinner. The Waterhouse is located right next to a river and in an area with local shops. Most of them were closed at dinnertime, but they looked adorable. We were looking to dine outside, but the weather was not cooperating. Our table was right next to large windows overlooking the river, so almost as good as being outside. My husband raved about his Watermelon Gazpacho starter, I had the Beef Tenderloin. It was accompanied by mashed potatoes and sliced carrots. My husband had Paella for his main and we ended the meal with a flour less cherry tart. Yummy!
Great local spot! Service is a tiny bit slow... Waited from 11:30-11:55 for someone to come for the water/drink order but we were not in a rush so not a huge deal. Food was delicious! I love the Cesar dressing! And we sat right next to the water. Will be back!
July 2023: Mushroom and onion soup was fantastic. I also enjoyed berry and burrata salad. It is more berry than cheese salad, but the berries were fresh and flavorful: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. The outdoor area is very pleasant, and I enjoy the gurgle of the stream as the background noise. 2019: mushroom and onion soup was excellent, I also enjoyed the duck. Salads were a disappointment, neither kale nor artichoke salad tasted good and both looked like just a pile of stuff. Master chef presentation this was not. P.S. the chef's obsession with bacon seems to be over. None of the dishes we ordered had it. Thank you! 2018: This year we thought dinner was good. Lobster bisque was excellent, sole was good, rabbit special was not very flavorful but risotto that came with it was delicious. The chef still loves bacon everything, even the sides that came with bread both had bacon. I hope this bacon trend will end eventually.... 2017:This used to be one of our favorites, but has gone down hill over the last several years. 2017: Mushroom soup is consistently excellent. Scallops were good but this chef likes adding bacon to everything, scallops would have been better without bacon dominant flavor. Fried chicken: more batter than chicken, chicken pieces were scrawny. But it was nicely crisp and not greasy. 2016: Inconsistent. Excellent soups, good burger, terrible greasy duck.
Great food, geat service. From the minute I walked in until I left with the staff giving me pointers and recommendations for my drive back to the airport, everyone made me feel welcome, and they all pitched in to make sure I was taken care of and had a good experience. And the food & drinks were fantastic. The bartender Ian had great insights on the menu, and had a fantastic meal with great conversation with staff and other diners at the bar. I felt like I was having dinner with friends.
