Wasab Steak House & Sushi - Japanese restaurant in Joplin - 101 N Rangeline Rd, USA

My wonderful husband took me out for a mother's day meal. Trevor was the only one of my boys able to join Brett had a injured back. I got surprised by Trevor and his beautiful girlfriend with my favorite flowers and my favorite color of shirt gifted with a beautiful card. My baby boys ain't babies no more.

My husband & I drive 1 hour & 15 min one way frequently to visit. We love the food, drinks & sushi. Their staff is amazing as well! Very clean environment.

We went for the hibachi experience. However, even though there were several empty hibachi tables, they only had two chefs and the wait would be over an hour. We opted to sit in the dining room for regular service. Those that had sushi enjoyed their meal. I chose the steak/ chicken combo. It comes with soup and salad. I liked the salad with peanut sauce dressing. Some wanted Ranch which they didn't have. The soup was bland. My steak was cooked as I requested but I actually thought both meats were tasteless. I don't use a lot of sauces and usually don't have to. They added 18 % gratuity to the bill since we were a party of 6 and 2 babies. That was fine with me. I usually tip at least 20% for good service. I would only go back if the hibachi tables were available.

The server was really sweet and interactive. We were undecisive and the server really helped out and they recommended AMAZING food! 1000% recommend avocado bomb.

Very polite staff. Helpful in all aspects. Especially with the menu. If you have no idea, they will for sure explain it to you. All around good service and great food! Lunch specials are really also! Try it! You will go back!

I started going here in, I believe, 2018. It was great. First time having sushi and it was phenomenal. Their gyoza and crab rangoon were amazing. They went way downhill. The management has always been extremely racist, but it was bearable because their food was good. That's no longer the case. The booth seats are always broken (have rips, no support underneath) and the tables are always wobbly. The service is terrible. I've consistently had no one check on my table until I walk up to the front, in which case they accuse me of dining and dashing (no, I haven't seen you for 30 minutes. I want my check, forehead) The sushi has always been amazing, but their sushi rice has gotten cheaper (or they don't do QA on it anymore). The gyoza and crab rangoon have had a considerable nosedive in quality. I can't justify going here anymore. There's other sushi places in Joplin. My current favorite is Sakura, and it's similarly priced. This is a review of my experience from 2018-2023. I believe the last time I came here was Aug. 2023 and I won't be returning. From 2020-2021, I came here almost every weekend. It's horrible what the management has done to this place.

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but I experienced really bad customer service here. Our waitress didn't speak the best English and when she brought us more than we had ordered. I asked nicely and said that I didn't order two things and she insisted that it was my fault because she repeated our order to us (she didn't). We ended up having to pay for more food then we wanted to get.

Had a great meal at Wasab. We had the tempura Philadelphia and the Webb City roll. Both very good. We also had the chicken fried rice, the chicken/ shrimp combo... everyone was happy. Good service, clean place. I recommend and will return.
